by JesterBlaze GM of the Lawrence Phantoms
Gentleman, thank you for coming today.
There's not a single person in this room who doesn't know the accomplishments of the Lawrence Phantoms and quarterback Tobias Stanfield, reigning IFL MVP.
That being said this is America and we can't force anyone into labor, even if that "labor" is in actuality getting paid many millions of dollars to lead an IFL team on a possible Championship run.
Tobias is currently unhappy with his $9,070,000 contract and is holding out of pre-season activities.
There is one fairy tale ending to this scenario: Tobias realizes what's at stake and agrees to lead our team again and quite possibly claim "The Legend's" title as winningest QB ever for the same team from start to finish! He must do so quickly!
Then there's the other realistic possibility: Finances and misunderstood slights cause a rift that cannot be patched and send him to another team to be possibly the 1st IFL QB to win an IFL Bowl with 2 different teams.
One thing is not undecided: The Phantoms organization will move forward with the vigor of a team knocked the fuck out early after a 15-1 season with or without any single player, coach, nor GM/owner!
We want to stress that our primary objective is to bring Stanfield back into the fold to lead us on another title run. But Roderick Amos, while perhaps the more talented QB at this time, understands things like "loyalty" and "camaraderie"... understands the bonds that are built during training camps... things Tobias once embraced... but as of late has perhaps forgotten.
I ask this before I step down and head to the office to listen to offers: How many other teams' 2nd most talented QB's are holding out this season? How many other $100millionaires with 2 IFL Rings are whining about another $5-10M tacked on whilst not even listening to offers!?!!??? People of Lawrence, during my time here have you not been entertained? HAVE YOU NOT BEEN ENTERTAINED!?!?!?!?
***************
This thread is part entertainment/part seriousness: I don't know what the timeframe is since Stanfield rescinded his holdout in the past in time to play but I will store all offers on record should he keep his BS up and with Amos launching to a 73/73 there's a very real possibility that I'd move Stanfield as much as it would hurt me and the Phantoms history.
