We just drafted a QB last year with 1.12. We need to give Harden some help around him. The TE Deligencia is a nice start.

Oh dear. Vermont what have you done? Really?

2x middling 1sts, some middling 2nd and 3rd round picks and a meh undrafted TE for the 1.1 with a very nice QB sat there?
        Crazy deal.

Why would you prefer Harden over Whalen anyway?

(And no.....I wasn't looking to trade for the 1.1 either. )

My thinking was ---We just used 1.12 on a QB last draft. I could take a QB every year, until I build around this team I will not know how good they are. I look at the last 5 or 6 years and the best record Madison has had was 9-7 which would have been 1.19 in this draft. So being a NFL Chart value guy and a Math guy I played with the numbers. So 1.1 is worth 3000 points. 1.13 (1150), 2.12 (460), 3.11 (215) equals 1825. Lets say he goes 9-7 next year and he has pick 1.22 (780), 2.22 (360), and 3.22 (160) which equals 1300. So if we add 1825 and 1300 we get 3125 which is actually over 3000.

The undrafted TE came out 23/29 than after Ex2 he jumped +7/+25. Doing the Math again I thought that was pretty good.

Looking at Harden he came out at 18/39 and after Ex2 he was 23/50 so that's a +5/+11. Not to bad, but I want to see what he evolves into before throwing another top tier pick.

Then I did some more research. I thought let me look at the last 4 years and see how the 1st rd QB's have faired their 1st season. 1st I wanted to see their ratings from their 1st TC to Ex2 so I could compare it with Harden. Then I looked at their win loss record to see if those picks next year would be better/worse then the 9 wins which is the most Madison has had over the last 5 to 6 years.

          Samuel Hillery 1.2, -8/-12 had a 2-4 record

          Troy Horner 1.1 +10/+4 had a 7-9 record

Ashton Nussmeier 1.11 +2/-10 - He did not play his 1st season

          James Brackens 1.18 +2/-18 had a 3-8 record

Kennedy Tannenbaum 1.23 -1/-18 did not start a game his rookie year

Looking at thoise QB's Harden had the 2nd best current jump with +4. He had the best, yes the best future jump at +11. So that was enough promise for me to give this guy a chance. His record was terrible at 2-10, but that leads me to believe that I could get a top 10-15 rd pick from Madison. None of the QB's had winning records their 1st year. Which adds more value to the picks next year.

I have done my homework before just making a quick decision. I felt like based on the Data that I collected that--- A. Harden had a very good start ratings wise. B. I felt like it was difficult for a rookie QB to jump out of the gate winning a bunch of games. So based on all that I felt making the trade was a wise choice for me.

So I ask you UKPatfan when you decided to trash my trade did you take the time to do the reasearch? I am not saying I am right. I am saying based on the Data and research I felt it was a good move for this franchise.

Whew, another blockbuster trade for the IFL. I understand Vermont's dilemma not wanting to give up on Harden since he showed some good signs of development last season - although it APPEARS that Whalen is a rare talent in the FOF7 world and if I was in Vermont's shoes I probably would have tried to shop Harden around. I wish I had this dilemma - lol. I think the question we don't really know is how rare is this QB. He may be the best prospect we've had post FOF7 conversion. But is he a once in ~3 yr QB or once in ~10 yr QB? Maybe those who have played more SP or MP have a better feel for it than I.
A quick look the best post-conversion QB I can find is Hillary Samuel - who looks great.

Don't pay no attention to him Vermont. I may or may not get a good QB with this pick, you just never know with this game. I think I'm the one taking the risk here. If this guy flops, I'm looking at a total rebuild.

Not gonna lie Markc, this guy seems legit but like I said you just never know with this game what you are drafting anymore. Its been like 13 seasons since I've had a good QB in this game. Year after year I flirt with a .500 record because of having a terrible QB. I never seem to be picking high enough to land a superstar QB or WR. Just terrible enough to have a chance at someone who is not at a skilled position. I had to do something.

I did last season, I did not even get a pm with anyone interested. That's when I decided to play him. Based on all my data and research I decided I wanted to build around him and give him some time. The QB Whalen does not fit the kind of offense I like to run. That being said if I did not have harden I still would have drafted him.

You made the trade Vermont....it's your call.
I just believe you could have got a much better deal for the 1.1 with that QB there.
He has all the right signs. His Sense Rush and Accuracy look amazing. He'll be a franchise QB and they are very rare.

Madison knows he has sneaked a good deal.

Know one has sneaked anything around me. I know my stuff man. I have also drafted can't miss players in the past and they have busted out. Just ask Redzone. He does look the part for sure. That is why I was able to get what I got for him. I know in the NFL if they used a top 12 pick on a QB one year that shows promise they don't use there next years pick on a QB. Please don't bring up the Titians who used a 6th rd pick (not a 1st) on a QB who went 0-6 and say they used 1.2 to get Mariota. In 3 drafts we could look at the deal and If I am not able to get could players with these picks then yes I will have made a mistake. Then we have to look at what Harden turns into, which I am not 100% on either way. I just wanted to be able to build a team around him. Then lets see what he can do.

The best offer I got besides Madisons was a late teens/early 20's this year and a 1st the following year.

Well it will certainly be interesting to see how the two QBs end up.
I don't think many GMs would have passed on Whalen....I certainly wouldn't have.

Might have had better offers if the 1.1 was advertised on the block better imo.

What else does 1st pick of the draft on the block mean. Are you talking about having a picture with a hot chic holding up a sign saying you are looking to move the 1st pick of the draft?

Or...maybe posting the 1.1 in the trade block thread
Or...leaving it longer than just one hour after a media release before making the trade

How on earth was that advertising it was available?

                          But hey it's your team.

He did advertise the pick. I wasn't the only offer to him on the pick. Get off his nuts, talking about things you know nothing about obviously.
