Honestly, there is only one winner in this trade and it is Jester. One corner is not worth that much. This smells like Herschel Walker all over again. Giving 10 draft picks to an owner that knows how to draft is just scarey. Boyd is an 8 year corner too. With the proliferation of the pass, one corner does not make enough impact in my opinion.

I made a trade for Oliver McKenzie late in his career. The guy played 5 seasons for me and anchored my defense during the golden years. draft picks are a lottery. Boyd is a known commodity.

I say good trade for both.

My initial thoughts were the Mules were put up wet and without feed. Just so many quality picks going to Lawrence.

Then I thought about the currently established value of 1.22 as I recently traded 1.22 for a future 1 and 2 from Cleveland. So how much more is moving from 1.22 too 1.06 worth, lets say the current 1.19 and the current 2.18 ( possibly being generous but I'm just making an argument here ). This means Boyd was obtained for current 4 and 7 plus future 2,4 and a pair of 7s.

Looking at the deal this way, plus the fact that Lawrence cannot stockpile more than 53 players going into week 1 of any season, means this deal is not, IMO, the one sided monster deal that it appears too be. I still think the Mules overpaid, but sometimes there are other concerns, CAP ect, that are not obvious.

One thing is sure though any deal I make with Lawrence will include a draft pick comming too the Warthogs cause I know the Phantoms have them too burn.- lol

This trade was explained piece by piece in Dave's other thread. We were first talking...

                          1.6 (a very high pick)

                          for

1.19 (a damn good pick but a ways from top 10)
                          4.20
                          2020 1st (probably 23+)

I didn't want to move 1.6 so Boyd came into discussion with the rest...

                          adding Boyd

                          for

                          adding (3) 2nds, a 4th and a 7th.

I personally think Doyle and Puppe went a good deal too cheap and what I got in return for Boyd is much fairer value for a league's top 2 talent CB. And I was leaning towards keeping 1.6 so any "overpay" one might think happened for Boyd can be attributed to greasing the wheels for Dave to get 1.6.

Agreed. I don't think this was one sided. Sometimes there are other concerns than the obvious. I know early with the Mules when I knew I could not resign my guys I made some trades that were probably not the best, but they were better than nothing at all losing a guy in UFA.

How long did yall work on this one?

We were talking 1.6 for days as I stressed over how to fit everything under the cap. Player renegs weren't going great so when Dave offered the final deal I just saw $8.7M freed up from Boyd and about $7M from the 1.6 and accepted to get out of cap hell.

Take us back pre-patch and I don't do this trade at all. I come back from an IFL Bowl last second loss with the same team plus a 1.4, 1.6, 1.31 & 2.3 pick which I'd use for "immediate impact" players.
