    Tulsa sends 1-15, 2016 1st, 2015 3rd

Georgia sends SS Walter "The Irish Assasin" Fitzgerald

I was targeting a Strong Safety or Left Tackle in the draft at pick 1-15. When Fitzgerald became available, I went for him.
Tulsa is extremely excited to get a play maker of Fitzgeralds ability. He is young and super talented. With Fyie, Porter and now Fitzgerald, the Tigerhawks defensive backfield will be outstanding for many seasons.

AHAHAHAHA you fool. one trade too many. Fitzgerald is in his 5th year. by 2016 he'll be a 7th year veteran. at that point in time the 2014 1st rounder you gave up should be fully developed, plus the 2016 1st rounder will have just been drafted. fast forward to 2019 and your 2014 1st rounder will be the same age as Fitzgerald when you first aquired him, your 2016 pick will be a 3 year veteran, and you'll have a 10th year veteran safety on the decline who could retire at any point.

Willie Ames - Boston's longtime stud CB - retired after only his 9th season this offseason.

you may be a gameplanning guru, but a world-class GM you are not. in a league with uber-offense and no QB with a QB-rating less than 70 you just gave up 2 first round picks for a player who won't be able to make a substantial contribution and will be below average 5 years from now.

i'm not kidding around when i say i want my 1st round picks to be on my team for 10 years, minimum. quirky things happen to players after year 10. tarcone basically traded 20-22 years of combined future performance for a player who's clock starts ticking in about 5 years.

which would you rather have - two players whose careers may end sometime around 2028, 2030 or a player who's already maxed who may be retired by 2020?

Beeznick (Georgia's GM) has my respect. he fleeced Lansing's GM and now he pulled off a monster steal from Tulsa. that's 3 first round picks for 2 players.

OR Fitzgerald (81/81) stays at that level for 5 seasons and declines slowly before retiring in year 13 (8 years of greatness). And pick 1-15 and the 2016 1st rounder busts for Georgia. Then I win the trade And get a 7 to 8 year window of already developed greatness. While Georgia wastes one of the best SSs for 2 pathetic busts that he had to burn cap space to get rid of.

If I'm Tulsa I like Fitzgerald and feel *maybe* I overpaid but I've got a good sense of my Conference and just lost by 1 point in the NC Championship to a lesser team. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon so my 2016 pick is going to be in the 20's if not 30's. If I win it all in the next 3 seasons no one can question me.

If I'm Georgia I like the picks.

Strange how different teams on different paths can both make out in a trade.

To me, Tulsa overpaid for a safety. If he likes the guy though and is happy with the deal then good for him.

its called experience. DE Jose Gilpin, a stud even as a 10th year veteran on my team, retires as a 10th year vet out of nowhere. no injuries, no decline. he was still rated in the 80's. i already pointed out Willie Ames, which Boston's GM will be more than happy to remind you of.

does it happen all the time, no, but it happens enough that you simply can't, or shouldn't, throw your future away. look at the current safeties when you get a chance. you have the top rated safety currently. there's only 1 safety currently in his 13th season, and he's on Lawrence. just your average starter, no big whoop. then you have five guys in their 12th year. so that's 6 players total out of 32 teams that have reached their 12th season. of the players rated 70 overall or above, only two are in their 10th year or more. so most likely if your guy makes it past his 10th year, we're looking at a 60-something rated Safey. you can pick up 60 rated safeties at your local supermarket, right next to the eggs.

there's roughly a big gap between those 6 players and the current generation of safeties, some are in their 7th season, 1 or 2 in their 8th. that's a big window of about 5 years where anything can happen. so basically it can be inferrred that FOF will select a handful of safeties that will play till their 12th, 13th year, others can go at any time after their 10th season, give or take a year. you are obviously a glass-is-half-full kind of guy and you must think your safety is gonna be one of a handful of guys to make it all the way and even if he does he'll be average at best.

i'm not pulling this out of my ass. in FOF youth trumps all.

HA, aren't you the guy that tried to see if i was stupid enough to take a 1.20 and some chump change for 89 rated MLB Nitschke, 78 rated LB Kidder and 62 rated DT Terry even though that I said I was looking strictly for a DE? Is that your idea of a great trade for both sides? You actually think anyone would take that deal, or even want to negotiate with someone that offers it?

Here's a GM that's willing to take a big chance at a championship. Maybe you should do the same unless you're happy with being a perennial bottom feeder in your division. Whatever philosophies you have in running a franchise obviously doesn't work.

That being said, Tulsa did overpay by a first rounder for this guy and it was way more than the offer I put on the table to open discussion (which never came cause this deal was obviously on the table as well). I said in my offer I wasn't interested in right now in trading a future first rounder, but I would have in the end, I think. But I wouldn't have done 2 first rounders and a third.

Still, I think this trade should help everyone involved.

HA, I don't understand why you get so worked up when you see what you think is a bad deal. Unless a deal involves the Renegades, or completely hurts the integrity of the league, I could give two shits about other deals.

lets get one thing straight. i don't get worked up. if we're gonna do this (ie, have a MP league), then might as well discuss trades and debate things. otherwise there really isn't anything to do here since this is a very slow paced league. there's a reason why you don't see any chitter chatter in my trades - it's cuz they're always fair deals where no one gets raped. i just think it's crazy the amount of 1st round picks that are traded in this league. simply silly. i have Suicane's first round pick in 2015, and in 2014 he decides its time to start rebuilding. he's basically giving me a guaranteed top 10 pick next year.

I'm in five leagues and this league has the fewest 1st rounders traded by a large margin. The past week, however, I think we've had more trades than all of last year. That may have more to do with us having a couple new GMs than anything else.
