Oakland gets pick 1-2 and Little Rocks 2nd round pick in 2005.


Little Rock gets TE Joseph Flores, LG Wilfredo Sheffield, and DT Tod Woods.


Debate on this trade is expected.

Here is my arguement. This gives Oakland the chance to get not only both a top rookie QB but also a STUD RB. Both positions he needs badly. I had offers that were not too far from this that included a high 1st rd pick and a very good player. This wins out because instead of 2 very good players, I get 3 very good players.

Some may argue this is over compensation given to me, but then again, who would not love to have the top QB and top RB in the draft when they have no real good players at each position? Especially when it looks like this RB has a strong chance to be a stud from day 1.

Thats all I have really.

I've already passed word to Cringer on this one - I don't like it one bit. I see Jave overpaying dearly for a guy he has clearly fallen in love with for less than 20 hours - 20 hours! The draft is two weeks away. It wasn't long ago that Tod Woods was ranked number one in my green page listing and Jave was talking up a storm about the guy. Woods himself is probably as or more valuable than the number two pick. While runningback is a valuable position, defensive tackle is not far behind.

I'm asking that this trade be modified or redone totally. I don't feel it is good for the league or for it's reputation as being competitive. Please discuss and don't be afraid to share what's on your mind.

Oakland agrees to this trade...

And I believe that this trade is more then balanced. My 2 HUGE holes were at the RB and QB position, and the opportunity to acquire these 2 players in the draft is a once in a lifetime event. After only winning 2 games last year I realized that my stalling in the draft for both a QB and RB was a huge mistake. If you look at what teams are willing to pay for franchise players(N.O. trade for Ricky Williams) I am confident that this is a fair and balanced trade.

While I really was coveting the QB and/or the RB I would say I have no problem with this trade. The reason being is that Oakland has a owner who is active. In that case it is his team to run. He also is building a dynamic offensive foundation that will be like Manning/Harrison/James. He gave too much in my opinion though.

My love for the guy has not subsided one bit, he is a stud, however, one of the deciding factors in his trade was my lack of both a RB and QB, and here is where money comes into factor. Woods is going to ask the house for a long term contract, which would leave me little or no money to pursue a quality FA in the comming years, and leave a hole in my team that I am unable to fill. When you look at it from those terms, its not so unbelieve. Remember Sapp in his prime? How many teams would be able to afford 2 Sapps on their D line? I can still build around Nelson who is just as good, AND fill my weakness on my team.

Jave has a good point, which is something I have wondered, does he wait for some of his studs to leave via free agency, or does he use them for bargaining chips now?

While I disagree with the trade, I should have gotten it for my 3rd round pick :P , it is more a matter of what he paid for it, not the reasoning behind it. Would it be any different if RendeR or someone else offered the same for the picks?

If Jave is willing to plug in a lesser player at DT, why should we fault him for doing so? He is an active GM, and this trade makes an awful lot of sense. If those ratings hold for the RB, he will be one of the top RBs in the IFL starting next year! Plus, a stud RB can make a mediocre OL look great, covering several holes with one pick,

Well I could say that maybe Jave is going out on a limb b/c he does not like being out of his comfort zone. That is being the IFL's bitch! :lol:

That said, I am not sure if I want to be around when Jave starts winning, payback comes in spades!

I'm thinking that top draft picks in this game just don't have the value of those in RL. Here it is just another outstanding player. I don't believe the game has those intangibles that comes with a top pick built in. So in fact, it's one outstanding player for three outstanding players. Two of them even will only be restricted FAs in two years.

That being said, a great QB just means everything in FOF. Just look at that roster. I never would have believed you can lose 14 games with these players. Maybe they were just too young and inexperienced.

I wouldn't have done this trade, but I'm still learning the trade business, so it's not for me to judge. In two years, we'll all be wiser.

i think its a little lopsided, but if jave wants to pay that much for the pick then its his choice. as an idea to even it out a little bit (this is kinda wonky, but its worth noting) how about cringer would have to to give jave a future conditional pick (say, 2nd round) if he re-signs tod woods to a contract extension. its just an idea. you could also do other picks for sheffield and flores (although id make those more like 4-5th rounders), but i think just the pick for woods would be fine. just my 2 cents here.

I think the trade is fine as is, and I like the active GM argument as well. This is Jave's team and it will be for quite sometime and it's not like Cringer is trying to pull one over on him. I think it's a slick move on Jave's part to put together two very important pieces of his offense into place and it effectively compensates Cringer for dropping from a very covetted draft position.

Seems like an okay trade to me...Cringer loses the 'high pick' risk factor since (low volatility or not), there's no guarantee that the stud QB and RB will in fact be studs...quite a gamble, but if Jave's willing to take it...more power to him

I ask this because even though you have all pretty much said that you would OK it, many are still saying it is unbalanced.

As much as I hate to ask, it might help if we knew what your other offers were. However, it is hard to do so because then Jave could want to offer less, etc.

I guess my thought is, you are going to take the best offer you can get, so let's say the other offer you got was for 2 stud starters and a quality back-up. Jave would have had to offer what he did to make his offer sweeter. I think in the absence of another trade this seems a little steep, but knowing what else was offered would give more context.
