I am going to flag this trade for extreme one-sided value, because I promised myself that when we had the debacle of the Wade Jude trade I wouldn't just sit on the sidelines next time.
Grutz is a good player but he is a safety which the game recognises is a low value position - suppressed raw grade in the draft preview - and in this case he is dumb as a rock as well. He moved one season ago so we have a points estimation for his recent value:
1,28, future low first and third (let's say 1.25 and 3.25) = 660+720+145=1525 (assigning current season value even though these picks were future picks)
However, those picks also acquired 1,15 = 1050, giving a points value for Grutz c. 475, or approximately pick 2.10
Now NFK is offering a trade value of their next year first round pick, when their last 5 years picks have been 1.1, 1.3, 1.1, 1.9, 1.5 for an average of 2250 points, or somewhere between 1.2 and 1.3. It seems unlikely that NFK will be outside the top 10 as the last time was 10 years ago and even then it was 1.11,
Norfolk, you should stop yourself with this trade. If you want a safety that badly you should post 'offering my next year first for a safety' and anyone who is paying attention will fall over themselves to give you better value for that pick as they will effectively be swapping a low value position for a premium WR or possibly a franchise QB. At the very least make VAN offer a package worth 1.3
Vancouver should stop themselves because this trade is a joke, we already had a complete joke trade for QB Wade Jude recently with a GM who was never seen again and never did anything in this league or any other so far as i know except hand over top 5 QB for peanuts, and winning doesn't matter that much.
And the league should think about having a rule to stop self-harming nonsense like this, for everyone's sake.
when I took over the Horsetooth Ogres I noticed that their former franchise QB was traded for "pennies on the dollar"
in other leagues like IHOF this trade would have been nuked right away, but since we don't have any hard line rules against it we as GMs should self-police ourselves...
With Norfolk leaving, I'm going to void this trade. And I'll void the one he made with me last night. I'll write a separate post on how we should handle these issues going forward.
