I've been questioned about this trade twice, so I'll address the whole situation here.
jzicc was auto'd in his 1.17 pick and got DE Fulcher as a result. He posted a trade block offering DE Pieters as he had a surplus in the position and wanted to get rid of one of them.
That thread was open for about 4-5 hours, then the KCY-VAN trade was posted and jzicc deleted the thread. I'm undeleting that thread so everyone can see what happened.
Trading draft picks during the draft is not forbidden as per the League Constitution. Because Fulcher was never a member of KCY and was traded during the draft I had to manually release him with no cost for KCY and assign the exact same contract to VAN. If you check 1.16 and 1.18 you can see Fulcher's current contract is in line with theirs.
Regarding the trade. I think we all thought live it was an abysmal trade for KCY and the handling of the situation was poor. That said, jzicc thought Fulcher was a 61 rated player, which is not hard to believe as his DC is just above average at scouting.
I can't find any good reason to reverse or ban this trade. I don't see collusion or KCY trying to actively help another team, but the result of the chain of a series of bad decisions (for my standards, that is) made by jzicc, who essentially lost all his leverage when he posted he wanted to get rid of one of the DEs.
I know bad decision making can negatively affect other GMs, me included, but I can't block a trade just because one of the GMs made a mistake. That would be too arbitrary in my opinion, and that could only open the Pandora's box of yet more arbitrary decisions.
Sure, it wasn't the idea of trading picks, it looked like a draft and trade which is illegal in some leagues.
Well, this trade sucks, as Vancouver don't need to be getting Top 3 DEs for basement prices, but I do agree that there's most likely no collusion here. It would have been easier to see that if the OG thread wasn't deleted so good call to bring it back, rode.
It's hard enough with half the draft being middle of the night for Euro GMs without trades also happening under the cover of darkness
I think allowing trading for players during the draft mirrors the NFL better than banning them (hi, San Diego Chargers). It is not common, but it has happened. Same here, I doubt we will see many more of these down the road.
As much as I hate seeing VAN get stronger, particularly in the pass rush, which is the most disruptive defensive asset for a team to counter my style here, using my commish powers here to revert the trade would actually be collusion.
I thought it was highway robbery and a robbery I wish I could have been at the bank before Vancouver for. I have a hard enough time with them, and Fulcher was who I was hoping would fall to me, but it's time to put the work in to beat.......WV, then worry about Vancouver ha.
