  • IFL Power Rankings

Disclaimer: I used the Team Summary and this weeks current Power Rankings to come up with my breakdown of each team. Please let me know if there is anything i can do to make it better because i would like to do another one week 12 and week 17 and maybe a pre-draft breakdown if that isn't already done. Also if your team was bottom 5 or Top 5 in a stat i mentioned it. good or bad.

    1. Orlando Pirates
    6-0 Rating 83
Breakdown: With an Avg of 31pts a game Orlando is easily considered the best team in the IFL right now. Miles Branch is having a GREAT year with only 1 INT thrown through 6 games, if he can keep this pace that would be 42 TDs and 3 INTs. Oh and don’t forget about Winfred Hearon who is on pace for 2100 Rushing Yards 15 TDs.

    2. West Virginia Beast 7-0 Rating 82
Breakdown: West Virginia is a close second in the power ranking but that is only because they have so many players playing injured. (6 Injuries) Despite a spained knee it looks like QB Burgess continue to play. Keep an eye on Week 12 vs Orlando could be the game to break a streak!

    3. Salt Lake City Stallions 6-1 Rating 77
Breakdown: Salt Lake City could also be undefeated if not for a horrible showing at Little Rock where QB Patterson had 44 Attempts 15 Completions. Despite that game The Stallions are still top 10 in both passing and rushing. Once they get healthy (7 Injuries) no team will want to play them.

    4. Vancouver Killer Whales 6-1 Rating 77
Breakdown: Dwight Mahe continues to prove he is a Top QB in this League. 14 TDs 2 INTs and a 73 Comp pct. Defenses have not been able to find a way to slow him down. The weakness here is the pass defense that is ranked 28th in pass yards allowed at 1843.

    5. New Orleans Deacon Demons 4-2 Rating 70
Breakdown: For NO Defense is the name of the game with a top 10 in Pass Defense and Top 5 in Run Defense. QB. Rivera has to cut down on the INTs in order to give this team a real chance, currently on pace for

    6. Dakota Spirit 5-2 Rating 68
Breakdown: Dakota has one of the best rushing attacks in the league averaging 151.9 yards a game. That is led by RB Tietsworth who averages over 5 yds. Per carry. Also the Defense is stingy with the ball ranking number 1 in Takeaways with 17

    7. St. Louis Archers 4-2 Rating 66
Breakdown: If you are going to beat St. Louis it has to be on the ground. The Cougars have the #1 pass defense in the league along with being #3 in takeaways at 14. If the Run Defense could match the Pass D then we could be talking about the best Defense in the league.

    8. Newark Bulldogs 5-2 Rating 65
Breakdown: Another Team battling the injury bugs. (7 Injuries) QB Kennedy is missing some of his top weapons and protection. All Pro LT Stith and FL Woodcock are both out with injuries and will be missed. Hopefully the Newark can use the bye week to get healthy and maybe get some replacements good to go.

    9. Iowa City Arsenal 5-2 Rating 65
Breakdown: Iowa City should be proud to know that they currently score the most point a game in the IFL. That along with a top 10 Defense has helped them on their way to a 5 game win streak. The only knock on this team is that they give the ball up too much. They are 25th in the league with 13 turnovers.

    10. Texas Trojans 4-2 Rating: 64
Breakdown: Things are always bigger in Texas and the Raptors prove that by being #1 in passing yards. QB Lester is 40 shy of 2000 yards 6 games into the season. On the Defensive side of the ball they are giving up a league high 4.91 yards a carry.

    11. Massachusetts Marauders 3-3 Rating: 64
Breakdown: The Marauders are managing a decent running game managing to make it into the top 10 and the Defense has been able to hold teams to a top 5 19.5 completions a game. The issue here is that this hasn’t translated well into points. They are only winning games by 4.3 points a game.

    12. Murfreesboro Mules 4-3 Rating 63
Breakdown: The Mules confuse me actually. They have all the parts to field a winning team but they can’t manage to do it consistently. I know it is wrong to put the team on a Rookies back but if FL Sparrows can take his game up one more notch then this passing game can be scary.

    13. Madison Demons 4-2 Rating 62
Breakdown: Madison another team that confuses, when QB Whalen plays the Demons win. This thing that confuses me is that QB Rivera is playing great but can’t seem to win many games. The Defense is really solid just needs to find a way to cause more Turnovers

    14. London Monarchs 3-3 Rating 55
Breakdown: The Monarchs are pretty average all around the board on defense they need to find a way to take advantage of their best player SILB Tim Kunz. On Offense QB Quellette needs more weapons around him at this point in his career to consistently win games.

    15. Columbia Fire 5-2 Rating 55
Breakdown: Columbia plays the type of football any fan would love to see. Run the ball to free up the pass. The only reason they are not higher on the list is because they have not been as consistent as some other teams. Keep an eye on the under rated QB K.C. Grant

    16. Montreal Firebirds 3-4 Rating 54
Breakdown: The firebirds have been pretty horrible on offense, but they have found a way to sneak in a small winning streak. The saving grace here is S Streets who is playing amazing football!

    17. Arizona Wolfpack 4-3 Rating 53
Breakdown: Arizona has 3 QBs with over 50 Attempts this year it is suprising that they still have a winning record. That says a lot about HC Porcher. Look for QB May to play better down the stretch. If he is still the starter when he comes back.

    18. Little Rock Thunder 2-4 Rating 51
Breakdown: Little Rock needs to score 35 Pts or more to win a game the problem with that is that they are running the ball 34 times per game. I’m not saying you can’t win running the ball but with only 3 total touchdowns to show for it maybe something needs to change.

    19. Cleveland Tigers 4-2 Rating 47
Breakdown: The Tiger could easily be 5-1 and higher on the depth chart if not for giving up 4 big plays last week and putting the game out of reach. QB Bechtel somehow manages to keep an average of over 8 yards a carry and the defense is currently hold opponents to 18.7 completions a game.

    20. Portland Seals 2-4 Rating 40
Breakdown: The Seals have turned the ball over a league leading 18 times. To make matters worse they haven’t found a way to get the running backs any room to run. Despite this they have managed a nice 2 game winning streak

    21. Houston Renegades 3-4 Rating 37
Breakdown: Another team that has managed to get production out of 3 different QBs this year, they just haven’t been able to transfer it into wins. The general manager has to be asking the training staff why his players can’t stay healthy with 8 players currently injured.

    22. Georgia Generals 1-5 Rating 37
Breakdown: The Generals have a League high 46.8 passing attempts and a league high 11 INTs a game. QB Bruce may be one of the most popular players in the luegue but he will need help if Georgia wants to comeback from 1-5

    23. Anchorage Lynx 2-4 Rating 37
Breakdown: Anchorage is currently riding a 3 game losing streak but should have a chance this week against Fresno. Anchorage has the ability to win if the Defense can give the Offense some field position to work with. Currently the worst at stopping 3rd down conversions at 49.4 pct.

    24. Calgary Stampeders 2-4 Rating 35
Breakdown: If you just looked at the Stats you would think Calgary were one of the top teams in this league but it is hard to win games when you have fumbled the ball 13 times already this year. But if the up down pattern continues they should manage to beat Vancouver.

    25. Los Angeles Matadors 3-3 Rating 35
Breakdown: The Matadors have an amazing defense that has held Opp. To a IFL low 260.3 yards a game. RB Hanks also boasts a 5.11 Y/Att. This team is much better than there record and with winnable games at Houston and Portland coming up look for them to climb.

    26. Lansing Ogres 1-6 Rating 33
Breakdown: It is very hard for a good defense to actually look good when the offense looks so bad. Key injuries on the O-line and at FL could be the reason the offense is under preforming. FL Briggs comes back in one week so we will have a clear view of this team then

    27. Norfolk Vipers 1-6 Rating 28
Breakdown: The Vipers need more playmakers on both sides of the ball. They currently have given the ball up 16 times with only 6 takeaways. Hard to say where to start here look for them to be drafting high this year.

    28. Pennsylvania Lions 1-5 Rating 22
Breakdown: The Lions have a pretty tough schedule so don’t look for much change here. The defense does a good job of giving the offense a chance but how scoring 4 and 7 points the last two games is not enough to get wins.

    29. Fresno Chaos 2-4 Rating 21
Breakdown: Fresno has arguably one of the worst rushing games in the League with only 48.5 yards a game and 2.22 yards a carry. The schedule looks easier from now on so we will see how they match up with the bottom half of the league

    30. Hartford Whalers 0-7 Rating 21
Breakdown: QB J. Brackens hasn’t played this bad since his rookie year. With strong teams down the stretch look for the year to not get much better.

    31. Tulsa Tigerhawks 1-6 Rating 18
Breakdown:The best part of the Tulsa Offense is the running game. The problem is that the games get so far out of control that they are forced to throw. 12 Fumbles this year also don’t do much to help their cause.

    32. Vermont Mountaineers 1-6 Rating 16
Breakdown: Vermont snuck out a win against Lansing when they stopped Lansing 2-point Conversion at the end of the game. That is about the only bright side here. They are another team who has fielded 3 QBs this year but the only one to have no success at it.

Awesome write-up. The only criticism I see initially is the mention of the Cougars in the Archer's write-up.

Yeah..I'm not sure his in-game nicknames are correct. He also mentions the Texas Raptors.

This is so cool. Great write up Armic and you're right we do have a problem...I like to run the ball 40+ times a game so looks like we'll go heavier on the ground game from here on out in order to get our average up :-)

All kidding aside I'm definitely a "run the ball and play defense" kind of guy and I remain confident that our ranking will improve over the next few weeks.

Good job. Hard to be critical when we are rated so high!!

Appreciate you doing that though. Adds that old FOF flavor again.

Great write-up, thx for investing your time!!!

I might add Iowa City has an inconsistent run game. Our team yards/carry stat is deceiving due to Hillery being a mobile QB and padding that number.

No surprise we're at the bottom, we're undergoing a three-year team transition and re-branding. Speaking of, we still have players for trade. Hurry!

Awesome job! You hit the nail on the head for my team. Our rushing attack hasn't been the best, but I've been working on it!

Great job man. Love this. Vermont has played in some tight games.
One of these days we will be winning instead of rebuilding.

Just noticed the poor Hartford Whalers are 0-8, but have had the toughest schedule so far with their opponents .721 winning percentage!

How's that for salt in the wound. :P
