On a University of Memphis football team stocked with tall, talented receivers, Mo Bauer sometimes goes unnoticed.
It could be his size.
Memphis coach Tommy West says receiver Mo Bauer (14, celebrating a TD against Marshall) "makes big-time plays.''
At 5-11 and 195 pounds, he's not the prototypical Tiger wideout. He's about five inches shorter and 15 pounds lighter.
It could be his numbers.
His nine catches in four games rank fifth on the team. His 33 yards on five rushes rank sixth.
But look beyond the height, weight, receptions and rushes, and most observe what Tiger coach Tommy West routinely sees: a player West has no reservations calling upon with a game on the line.
''That's kind of his M.O.,'' West said. ''He always makes plays for us. I always tell our guys if you want to call yourself a big-time player, then you've got to make big-time plays. He makes big-time plays.''
The Wolfpack took Bauer in the first round with the 18th overall pick. Fans quickly started chanting, "Gimme Mo Bauer!"
