I have decided to start a new segment. I am stealing this from another league. I will post who I feel are the top 5 teams and the one team I think is the worst.
So, lets start it off in week 9.
#1 7-1
Madison can run and they can pass. They are the #1 scoring team in the league. The team is led by QB will Irby, who is having a career year, and RB Charles Bell, who is averaging over 5 yards a carry. Madison looks like the team to beat. Next week they are on the road to play 7-1 Pittsburgh.
#2 7-1
Texas can pass the ball. And they do so at will. WR Grady Gomez was franchised this season and we see why. "Money" has 52 catches for 991 yards and 8 TDs at the halfway point. QB Clayton Chung is having another outstanding season throwing the ball. The defending champs are having another great season. Next week they travel to play arch rival Little Rock.
#3 7-1
Pennsylvania got a new name, logo and colors. This seems to have inspired the Lions. Led by QB Alvin Mann, this squad is keeping pace with the Demons in an outstanding NC North battle. They are tied with Madison for the top of the division and best record in the IFL (along with Texas). Next week is a battle with #1 Madison at home. The Lions only loss came on the road at Madison the 1st game of the season.
#4 7-2
Tulsas youth movement is starting to pay dividends. The team has an above average core of skill players and an improving defense. They are battling Texas in the NC South. One of their 2 losses came on a controversial offsides call at Texas. Next week is their bye week.
#5 6-2
Newark slides in just ahead of California. "King" Burger has led this team to the top of the NC East. Newark has played one of the tougher schedules in the league. That has resulted in a win over Texas, but they have lost to Madison and Pennsylvania. Next week they go on the road to play a struggling Dakota team.
Worst of the League
Reno gets this honor. They have one win over a down Little Rock team. Otherwise, it hasn't been a pretty season for the Wolfpack. Next week they travel to division rival Vancouver. I don't think win #2 is in the forecast.
