I wasn't planning on anything new so soon after my first piece back, but I couldn't resist this. I am thinking from time to time I may post other tidbits like this in this same thread, which are basically things I may hear or find out about out here on the road hitchhiking from IFL town to IFL town, and I find odd.
Hartford Grizzlies, I am slightly baffled by you. You have a WR by the name of Ed Gaylor. Ed has been on your team since 2007. Ed hasn't been much of a force since his days in Tulsa, since he has been a backup most of his time with the Grizzlies. Ed is a free agent right now, and the only team currently bidding on him is Hartford.
Now maybe this has changed, maybe Hartford was feeling a little heat in the race for Ed that I missed and that drove the price up. I don't know. What I do is Hartford is the only team who seems to want Ed on their team. From what I hear though Ed doesn't have the highest demands in the world. I heard not much more the 3 years for $5 million total. Yet the word I am getting is the Ed has been offered a contract by the Grizzlies that is a fish taco away from being $9 million over 3 years. I have no idea if these rumors are true, but my sources seem pretty solid. If they are true, why the heck over pay a backup WR by $4 million?
