I wasn't planning on anything new so soon after my first piece back, but I couldn't resist this. I am thinking from time to time I may post other tidbits like this in this same thread, which are basically things I may hear or find out about out here on the road hitchhiking from IFL town to IFL town, and I find odd.

Hartford Grizzlies, I am slightly baffled by you. You have a WR by the name of Ed Gaylor. Ed has been on your team since 2007. Ed hasn't been much of a force since his days in Tulsa, since he has been a backup most of his time with the Grizzlies. Ed is a free agent right now, and the only team currently bidding on him is Hartford.

Now maybe this has changed, maybe Hartford was feeling a little heat in the race for Ed that I missed and that drove the price up. I don't know. What I do is Hartford is the only team who seems to want Ed on their team. From what I hear though Ed doesn't have the highest demands in the world. I heard not much more the 3 years for $5 million total. Yet the word I am getting is the Ed has been offered a contract by the Grizzlies that is a fish taco away from being $9 million over 3 years. I have no idea if these rumors are true, but my sources seem pretty solid. If they are true, why the heck over pay a backup WR by $4 million?

Just a follow up for mi amigos.

The other day Hartford signed Ed Gaylor for the above mentioned 'rumored' contract. I now have the details of that deal.....

$1,500,000 signing bonus. Base salaries of 2.07, 2.45, and 2.95 million american dollars.

I know the American dollar is falling, my native peso is almost as good now, but that still seems too much with no one bidding against you for the player and his asking price $4 million lower. I also know Hartford has a bunch of room under the salary cap, but it is still too high for me. I know Pinky here has never led a team to an Imperial Bowl title like the Hartford team did 3 years ago, but it is still too high for me. I am going to get high, then maybe the contract will seem low.

This fine Margret Cho looking mami just told me the craziest stuff you guys will not believe. I swear, the chickies know nothing about football, like this could possibly happen.

This chick said she heard from a friend who knows a guy who sleeps with a cheerleader that also happens to bang a janitor in the corporate offices of world dominators Norfolk, and that guy said he overheard trade talks. Norfolk who has two punters on their roster right now is going to trade the cheaper one to Newark.

Who trades punters? My Nana could punt the ball if she gets hold of some of those horse steroids again. So anyhow, I hear that Norfolk is throwing in a 4th rounder, and in return get Newark's 3rd round pick in return. This chick is crazy if she believes it though, that kind of stuff never happens, like I said you just sign some jerk-off (sorry Nana) off the street.

Hey my friend, there are punters without jobs you know? Why don't you give them a chance, is it because they are not Jues? Haha, I made a funny. See the guy's name is Jue, get it? Maybe you had to be there.

So I doubt this rumor comes true, but I thought I would share because it was so funny.

Second new one of the day, May 6th.

I am sure everyone has heard about how the Murfreesboro Mules are shopping one of the best cornerbacks in the league, Jose Mangum. In four years he has done well to establish himself with 19 interceptions and stepped up his game with 22 defended passes last season.

I hear the league is going bananas over this player. From what I hear there may be offers in from Tulsa, California, Georgia, Little Rock.....wait, except California I have listed almost the whole NC South? Crap, they must have play money over in that division. I also think Oakland may be fishing with some of those picks they have, and perhaps Salt Lake City or Reno. I am betting there may be others I have missed.

Who has the real offer to bag the player and bring him home to Mommy though? Tulsa may be a little short, California probably is, Little Rock may be backing off, Oakland could take it anytime they want with the picks they hold. Reno is a fairly new player and may blow some teams out of the water from what my source says. It is going to take multiple picks, we know that. So which team pulls it off? Who is going to give up two first rounders? I am not sure yet folks, but I will be calling up my cousins (roughly 37 of them) who have helped me out in the past due to their jobs as Imperial League grounds keepers and janitors.

                  Adios mi amigos,

                  Pinky

Whoever's offering two 1st rounders better bump their offer or Mangum will be joining the league's best defense in Lawrence.

Heroes wouldn't give up 2 1st round picks for Jesus, let alone Mangum. you can remove us from your trade rumors cuz i definitely am not willing to give up a lot for Mangum. i need all the picks i can get, this league puts a premium on young players so i might as well draft guys that are 5 years younger than Mangum.

A guy in his 5th year isn't a young player? Crap, Lawrence, St. Louis, Norfolk, Little Rock, Vermont, Newark, and a couple other teams must be full of grandfathers. I would love to have Mangum, he is less then half the age of my starting CBs. I agree with you on spending a couple first rounders though, it is too much for me so Little Rock is pretty much out of it at this point.

just saying, the cutoff for CBs is like the 10th year, then after that their ratings decline. knowing how hard it is to move older players in this league and how important cohesion is, i'd rather just draft my stud CB and keep him on the team for the next 12 seasons than a guy who, while awesome, has about 6-7 years left. he's young, but he's no spring chicken. no one wants to aquire older player in this league, everyone wants to get young. why do you think Tuffy is trading Mangum - so he can turn a stud CB who has that 6-7 years left into multiple players who he can keep for almost double that amount of time. in this league you really do have to know it's better to trade a guy before you'd like than wait a season too late and not get enough back.

Well, I agree and disagree. I see your point in that as far as trade value, most guys in this league take off for age. I don't think it means they don't value those players though. Would I get offered even a second rounder for CB Sandy Lindo? Not a chance probably, but I wouldn't trade him for that either. I value the guy greatly.

To say a CB's cutoff is 10 years though is cutting it short some. Rodney Love on my team has had two of his best seasons the last two, his 11th and 12th seasons. A top level CB for the next 6-7 years is not a small thing. Drafting a rookie, maybe he is good in a year or two at the earliest. Mangum gives you a star player right away and for those next 6 or so years. I think the price is right for Mangum based on that, a couple high picks. I just don't trade like that very often, if at all.
