The 2071 season saw a number of teams and players add themselves to the all-time leader boards in the IFL, and it wasn't just Glenn Pierce! In fact, we seem to be living in a golden age for pass rushers, with a number of slam dunk HOF'ers currently terrorizing QBs across the league. Meanwhile a few teams seem to be morphing into versions of themselves we perhaps haven't seen before.
New Team Records
- West Virginia (41.1!) and Calgary (36.5) set new records for average points per game. That's the highest and 5th highest averages all-time.
- Las Vegas's total yards (422) per game is a new franchise high.
- several teams attempted more passes than ever before (London 44, State College 56, and Texas 42.5)
- Murfreesboro (318.3) and State College (383.6) passed for franchise high yards per game
- Portland set a new franchise record with 89 rushing yards allowed per game
Individual Records
Let's get the passing stuff out of the way first...
- Glenn Pierce (WVA) set new all time records in passing yards (7775) and passing TDs (71!). NO WONDER HE IS ON THE BLOCK.
- Vincent Dunn (MUR) had 12 games with 300+ yards passing which is good enough for top-20 all-time.
- In Portland WR Quentin Cudney crept onto the leaderboard. His 19 rec. TDs is also top-20 all-time.
- Harris Goss, RB at Calgary, set a number records. His 25 rushing TDs and 30 total TDs are both #1 all-time. The combined 180 points is the =4th highest all-time, and the only top 20 performance by a non-kicker. These numbers are pretty crazy as Goss shares carries with another RB.
Meanwhile, the pass rushers were going crazy...
- DE Carl Bobro will likely finish his career as the all-time leader in hurries, and this season he set a season record with 58. Not to be outdone, Johnny Peelle at Calgary (48) and Norfolk's J.C. Butler (46) also set top-10 numbers. Peelle also equaled the all-tine sack record which has stood since 2032 with 24. Butler and Eric Rivera at Madison set top-20 all-time records for passes blocked.
In the secondary...
- T.J. Lewis at Madison finished the season with a PDPct of 90. That's 20th best all-time.
- State College's CB Allen Rautalahti defended 25 passes which is =15th highest.
Off. Line
- Alaska's Logan Gaudino created 146 Key Run Opportunities which is the 8th highest we have ever seen.
And finally, on STs...
- State College's Dominic Franz had one of the greatest punt returning years with 914 yards.
