  • IFL Power Rankings, Week 8

These power rankings are the collaborative work of Cringer, Vic, and MrBigglesworth. Each team is ranked #1-32 and given a point value on a sliding scale. The column labeled 'points' is the teams' cumulative total of those values and the column to the right of that is the highest of the three ranks. Do enjoy..

    Rising star: Lawrence (5 spots)
Falling fast: Salt Lake City, Oakland, West Virginia (5 spots)
Los Angeles Matadors AC West Champs: 2037

Pittsburgh Power NC North Champs: 2005, 2006, 2009

Manuel Willoughby has the full confidence of the Mules front office.

The Vanderbilt product had a rough day last sunday. The sun was constantly moving and getting in his eyes, and besides the RB situation is at least as bad.

FWIW I made an attempt at a good RB before the trade deadline, but it went nowhere.

What I thought was surprising, was that that Columbia lost pretty handily to a winless team with a rookie QB AND received a new GM this week (whose abilities are unknown) and they only dropped 2 spots.

I tried not to knock them for having a new GM. I also felt it was one of those things were the loss was a bit of an abnormality, so I didn't penalize them too much.

I can't believe i'm not last. It must be my pretty decent roster that just can't figure out how to score 4+ extra points a game that would have completely changed my season.

Not sure why SLC has been ranked ahead of me most of the season, yet I beat them in their house and have a better record./shrug..........mabe when I beat them twice I will at least be tied with them.
Mabe the ranking should reflect I have played 6 out of 7 on the road. Something to think about guys. Who has played more road games then me?

Oakland was ranked ahead of SLC two weeks ago. You have since lost two straight games,

Should you be rewarded for two straight losses and losing 3 out of 4?

Also, this is not strickly based on record, although that is a large part. 'What have you done for me lately?' plays into sliding up or down. How bad the losses are, good the voctories are. Statistics. All depending on how much we all put into it.

In the end, your record is what matters the most though, not the PR's. So sit back and smile while you have the lead....

How soon you forget. I lost to both Orlando, whom I remind you is still undefeated, and Reno, with less then a minute left in the game(Reno beat me with 4 seconds in the game no fucking less!). Yes, Vermont handed me my ass, but after playing 6 out of 7 on the road, I can live with that.

Yes, you lost to good teams in close games. One was your only home game.

You are also still ranked ahead of West Virginia, Dakota, Newark, Wichita, and a few other teams who could be in the playoffs when all is said and done.

Wichita, who was ranked ahead of you at one point, is now several spots below you with the same record (IMO because their losses have shown more weaknesses then yours). You also have 4th worst run D and worst pass D, SLC is in the middle of both those.

Thanks for offering up the discussion, I love when people discuss their ranking, even if it is because they don't like it! That being said, I think part of it has to do with you getting pasted by Vermont last week, that is still on people's minds. You were ranked ahead of SLC on one list though.

I looked at the variance in the different polls, to see where the biggest differences in opinions were for the teams. I found that the biggest were:

                            Tul 16.3
                            Mon 14.3
                            Pit 13.0
                            Alb 12.3
                            Lan 10.3
                            Fre 10.3

Those are the teams that the pollsters are having the hardest time figuring out.

I have the worst run D because my D line sucks. No argument here. BUT. I have the worst pass D because my team scores so many damn points per game, that teams are in panic pass mode by halftime.
