  • IFL Mock Draft...

I know its early with F/A not even started yet. I went ahead and did a mock draft anyway. Things could change a lot after F/A but here we go....

    1. Lansing- QB Jay Caro/Penn St.
The Ogre's start building for the future with the selection of Caro.

    2. Texas- RB Alan Crespo/Wisconsin
Look for Texas to put RB Paul Brown on the trading block immediately following this pick.

    3. Houston- DE Brandon Cox/Army
The Renegades shore up the right side of their line with the selection of Cox.

    4. Newark- RB Bucky Beaver/Miami, Fla.
Newark will look to get a rushing game going this year to take some pressure off of newly
    acquired QB Scott Nelson.
The question marks about Beaver's size do not faze the Bulldogs, they like his speed.

    5. Fresno- QB Todd Terrell/UCLA
The Chaos in desperate need of a QB nab Terrell. This team just instantly got better.

    6. Dakota- WR Mercury Halbert/Georgia
The Spirit look to upgrade their WR corps. with the pick of Halbert.

    7. Murfreesboro- S Willie Ames/Boston College
The Mules are tempted to draft QB Richardson here but pass to take Ames who will be a welcome addition
to the Mules very thin secondary.

    8. Houston- G Nate Yamada/LSU
A great pick for the Renegades as they try to beef up their line to protect the young QB St. Clair and open
    up holes for RB Timmerman.

    9. Pittsburgh- G Bill Dronett/Michigan
RB David Rodriguez is delighted with this acquisition.

    10. Vancouver- DE Alfred Dunlap/Oklahoma
The Whales need major help on the DL. Dunlap becomes a immediate starter.

    11. Montreal- RB Stanley Jamison/Boston College
The Firebirds are extremely happy to land Jamison. Jamison fills a glaring need.

    12. Norfolk- CB Damon Dawkins/Kansas St.
The Vipers add the talented Dawkins to a position in dire need.

    13. St. Louis- RB Marty Webber/Texas
The Cardinals shore up a major weakness from last year. Webber becomes a instant starter for the Cardinals.

    14. Lawrence- CB Desmond Wolf/Maryland
The Phantoms are really disappointed that one of the good RB's did not fall to them. They select Wolf to shore up the secondary.
Wolf will be big on special teams also as a dual kick returner.

    15. Tulsa- G Shane Bryant/UCLA
The Tornado's select Bryant as OG is a major need on this club.

    16. Reno- CB Mel Fitzgerald/Georgia
The Wolfpack add Fitzgerald to the secondary. Just like Wolf he is a dual threat on returns.

    17. Newark- DT Neil Glazer/Washington
With their 2nd pick of the first round, the Bulldogs address the DL. Someone has to pick up the departed Jones slack.

    18. Louisiana- QB Rob Richardson/Syracuse
Even if the VooDoo re-sign QB Patrick Williams, Richardson should be the pick. Williams can mentor the young QB.

    19. Iowa City- WR Walter Walker/Miami, Fla.
Newly acquired QB Chaplin needs somebody to throw too. Walker will fit in nicely.

    20. Salt Lake City- DE Tyrone Garnett/Arkansas
The Stallions have the offense. Time to build that DL up and Garnett becomes a Stallion.

    21. Little Rock- LB James Barber/Colorado
The Toads are surprised he falls this far and he fills a need on the outside.

    22. Vermont- DT Byron Ruth/Oregon
The Mountaineers DL needs some big time help. Ruth will help clog up the middle.

    23. Pittsburgh- WR Ken Richard/South Carolina
The Power fill the hole that was created with the trade of Kennedy.

    24. Boston- CB Philip Stai/South Carolina
The Dragons shore up the secondary with this pick instead of reaching for a need here.

    25. Alburquerque- QB Will Irby/Miami, Fla.
The Matadors address the QB position which was a sore spot last year.

    26. Wichita- MLB James Herzog/Florida
The Outlaws consider this a steal to grab Herzog this late in the draft. Immediate starter!!

    27. Orlando- LT Jamal Hudson/Virginia
The Pirates are pleased to add another blocker for RB Dewitt.

    28. Hartford- LB Quinn Chelius/Virginia Tech
Another guy who has slide down the draft board. The Grizzlie stop his slide here.

    29. Columbia- DT Grady Rosehill/Miami, Fla.
The Fire draft a immediate starter. Rosehill will fit in nice here.

    30. West Virginia- LB Wesley McArthur/Washington
The Beast fill a hole on the outside.

    31. Lansing- LT Charles Overton/Pittsburgh
With the drafting of QB Caro, the Ogres go out and get somebody to protect Caro's backside.

    32. Madison- TBA
2003,2004,2007,2008,2010,2013,2024,2025,2031,2037, 2038 and 2039 NC North Division Champions, 2012 and 2017 Wild Card

I like this mock draft better. There is no way Fargo i.e. Dakota, takes a QB at #6. And in this one we get Halbert. (Can you hear the fans cheering?) However, I'm not sure Ames will get past us if he is still there. And by the way, Whatever happenned to Rueben McCaffrey who was a "can't miss" WR prospect?

You freaked me out. I started looking for a McCaffrey and thought he somehow disappeared from the draft/game.

It is just Caffery though. Phewwww...no problem.

He, uh. Well he didn't work out so well I guess. Give me a break would you, I had a miss on one guy. :P

He should/could have been a stud, just didn't work out for him I guess. Looks lke he is about a 30/40 guy with volatiity at 56. He is tied for the 5th fastest 40 time in the draft with a 4.39. Could be a late round guy easy, and I wonder if he booms? Not sure if I would lay money on it, but I am going to watch that.

BOSS, thanks for doing this, looks good.

***crumples up paper, tries a 'basket' into the garbage can***

There goes the one I was doing.

What about that corner that is at the top of the prospect watch? And where are the new files dammit?

Wow, I hadn't thought about a LB with my first pick, I was thinking more along the lines of WR/RB/QB/CB/S...

            LB?

Hmmm... Maybe the guy would be worth it! Now if I only had a few more picks...

              OK, two.

Preston Fredrickson is an impressive 15/37 guy. But he is a good punt returner, I got that right.

The Rumor Mill feels that it's not every day that you get a top 5 draft pick or have a franchise type QB on the board. The Rumor Mill is also not a fan of GM's taking safeties or guards (or punters or kickers for that matter) in the top 10. Just one person's opinion though!

BOSS, I was going to mention this before but didn't want to give anything away: you picked the two positions that I was going after exactly right, OL and WR. And not only that, but you got the players right for BOTH of my first round picks. Not bad!

Yeah, thats cool i picked your players. The NC North is gonna be a battle next year. I didn't really help my team this year too much with my 1st round selection of QB Irby. I do feel a lot better about the future though with a QB to replace Loving after this year. I think we did ok landing a QB as decent as him so late in the draft. He may have fell to me at #32 but i didnt want to take a chance, so i traded up.

Irby I wasn't sold on, but if he would have fallen to me, I REALLY would have had some problems. I love having a stable of QBs, and having a performer like Mueller with Irby backing him up would have been a dream situation!
