There was sad news coming out of Arizona today as the Wolfpack was forced to release 3 Pro-Bowl players due to cap issues.
Defensive End, Ron "Big Panda" Cheung, Cornerback Shane "The Gator" Matthews, and Center Shane Gilman.
Both Cheung and Gilman have been Wolfpack starters from day one of their illustrious 12-14 year careers. Matthews was picked up from FA via the Dakota Spirit last year.
Arizona also released 2nd year QB, Carson Carrubba.
Together the four players freed up over $17M in cap space prior to training camp.
When Argot was asked why they didn't try to get something in return for the players he stated, "We tried...It's a buyers market right now. I think a lot of GM's went on Christmas vacation and never came back. We literally begged for someone to trade with but it seems their contracts were too pricey for anyone. We would have taken a 7th rounder at the end of the day."
GM Argot has appealed the suspension of the loss of their 3rd round pick due to cap issues stating that the original constitution allowed for cap discrepancies to be fixed prior to the start of Training camp. No word yet from the league office over whether or not this will be overturned.
