  • Gauging interest(Barcode games)

I'm considering starting up a new league in a couple months using pro football sim ( http://www.barcodegames.com/screenshots/ ). No, I'm not leaving the IFL, I'm simply adding a game and I really like the features offered and the possibility of starting fresh with a brand new team. I'm moving Saturday, but once I get settled in I'm going to play it solo for a bit and get the hang of it. If I can get at least 15 or so owners we could run like, a sister league. Theres no rush, but for all it's faults, I like what this game offers. If anyone is interested, let me know. I can post details later if there's any interest whatsoever.

I'm interested.I played around with this a little when it first came out. Didn't have time to get too deeply involved but I was intrigued by it.

The version I played gave you the option of how many teams you wanted in your league. Does this game allow for expansion/contraction?

Maybe. I checked it out a little tonight and the player attributes seem very limited. Some of it seemed cool though. Extreme shifts in player ratings through TC in the game I ran. LOVE the "view next draft class" feature.

Custom teams....I do not think so, however....It does allow for custom league sizes/games:

          Custom Teams: MyTeam->Config

Mass Update Tool is exactly what's been needed in FOF.

          Don't see anything regarding expansion/contraction.

I thought it might make sense to start small and expand as interest grows. Don't see 30+ owners being interested right away.

I may be able to rustle up a player or two at some point. No guarantees, though.

There is a declining interest in these types of games so I would be open for reducing the number of teams for the league....20-24 is a possibility.

If it's a doable prospect, I might be willing to give it a shot.

I read horrible things about it on FOFC, have they improved it at all?

I downloaded the demo last night. I fun with the allocation draft but then I didn't want to spend the time signing everyone so I stopped there. I didn't see an option to turn the signing over to the AI but it could be there. The game looks Interesting. I don't understand why there are separate player ratings for run and pass blocking but not pass rushing or pass coverage - maybe that is yet to come? I'd like to get in on the ground floor of a league so I'd be willing to give it a try.

I haven't played with it much admittedly, I move Saturday so my focus is currently on that, however I ran a quick round of a draft and was impressed how the AI for the unmanned teams drafted realistically. Oakland was drafting 30th and all the decent QB's had been drafted. The first 12/15 teams selected quarterbacks. That's something I like to see. FOF all to often will leave a 33/83 quarterback for a 40/57 RT..../boggle!(Note: This was the FIRST round of the allocation draft so EVERY team needs a quarterback)

I read horrible things about it on FOFC, have they improved it at all?
It's been a while but I had read the same stuff. Not a glowing review over at FOFC, however it has been a year or so since I remember checking it out and Brooks seems to really be listening to the players and makes changes based on what he's hearing.
And as with everything....lets just play it and determine that for ourselves. The general consensus is, it's a bit behind FOF's engine, but I already like what I'm seeing. Like FOF, I'm willing to forgive it's not perfect if it's fun.

I will be creating our own site. If anyone has suggestions for providers let me know. I haven't had a web site in over 4 years. Not sure who the most reliable ones are these days.

I have a couple hours to kill. I'm gonna check out some of the PFS online leagues that exist see if I can find an instructive dynasty or something.
