I told the guy to screw it, i'd just sign up with their competitor and have it resolved today.

however, my ISP and my cable tv providor are the same. I don't care if I lose my cable, but my wife and kids do.

what to do. it shouldn't be this hard.

That's unusual that it would just stop working. Did you do all the usual? Rebooting, resetting, checking all your cables..do you have any pets that would have chewed through a cable? You could replace your own cables...there cheap at Walmart or anywhere.

it's connected to my cable tv as well. so I'd be a little alarmed if it was not working.

i've rebooted and reset. I'm not a cpu or network genius, but I think i know my way around it a little.

I'm using my aircard right now. Uses 3G for internet. we'll see how long this lasts for.

Directv is better then cable. If you use me as a the guy who sent you to them we both get a $100 credit on our bills.

a friend of mine has comcast cable/tv. His cable has been out a few days, but before it went out it mysteriously went to almost T1 like throughput. They are gonna get on it monday, or so they say

I'm Canadian and Directv is illegal for Canadians to have.......and damn near impossible.

that said, I do have Directv using a friend in MI's address. However, we still sub to CDN cable to get local news and such.

My modem is likely 8yrs old now. I've had cable internet for atleast 10yrs, and pretty much the same modem.

If anyone can read my Windows diagnostic report and give me hints as to what to do, I would gladly email it out

In Canada, it's big business in the distribution of television. Each CDN network bids on the opporunity to be the ones who can bring you your fav show. So, if you have any american tv, you're not watching their advertising.

oh, they cover all this by saying that we need to protect canadian culture. So it's regulated by the CRTC to ensure we all get enough Canadian content. It's pretty brutal....
Even now, I can't stream feed from any major TV or radio over the internets. My IP shows I'm canadian and not allowed to watch.

Back a few yrs ago, there was a big market for hacking directv here in Canada.....and it wasn't illegal to do that. but if you paid for it..................look out
