  • Virus: frmwrk32.exe

So I got this virus fucking up Windows and thus possibly my IFL existence.

I can search the internet on the Mac so I can find web sites that allegedly can fix the issue but when I switch to Windows the virus seems to be blocking these sites from showing up, though it lets others come through, so I can't download their app.

At this point I'm pretty panicked since I have zero tolerance for this type of shit. My only option seems to be to remove Windows from my Mac as it was only used for FOF anyway and I can't risk re-installing it if I do since it erased my Mac last time I did so.

Jump on yahoo when you can, i'll send you over a file to use. It's called combofix, it usually cleans up my system pretty well when I get dumb stuff happening. I had a virus where you can't even go to like bleepingcomputer.com, and it wouldn't let you run the files like combofix, so you take the .exe file, and rename it to something like jestersucks.bat and it should run.

bah, mac sucks just as bad. It just has the benefit that it isn't the most used OS, so no one creates crap that fucks with it.

The same excuse I've heard for the last 7 virus free years. Has nothing to do with the Unix its based on... ;-)

I might be OK after a long time dealing with the boring side of software.

According to the malwarebytes anti-malware thingy that I downloaded I keep having 3 files that won't go away but I just did a 2 hour scan with SUPERantiSpyware and it found 8 problems that it should have removed on reboot. I'll find out later. Time to eat now as everything *seems* normal: I have internet access, FOF functionality, and no pants on.

I'm running Windows XP on my iMac via bootcamp. It's solely for FOF and certain things that simply can't be done on the Mac side.

OK, I had a similar problem about 3 months ago. I purchased Kaspersky right. Supposed to be the BEST of the best as far as internet security goes but the fucker REFUSES to download. It takes me THREE WEEKS but I find out it's this virus that actually blocks secruity programs from accessing the internet or updating or anything! Very clever if ya think about it. I forgot the name of the file but I actually did find it and it wasn't removable. I formated my hard drive, and my wife has a Dell so we rolled hers back. Ya know they have a seperate partition on Dells were you can redo your entire computer in minutes...It deletes the current files, they copies over the info from the partition which is just the way they shipped it, and there ya go. In like 10 minutes you have a clean fresh install.

Well......the fucking virus was still there!! AARRGG

After more searching around on google I find the answer. The fucking virus somehow, someway, actually was embedded in the fucking router!! So here's what I did.
malwarebytes anti-malware actually did work. So we cleaned both computer running full file scans using it, disconnected from the internet BEFORE you run it. it cleaned my computers, then, you do a full reboot of your router(I have no idea if your even using one, just telling ya how we fixed ours) and modem and waa laa! It was gone.

Your could be a totally different problem, but that fixed ours....

Thanks for the info Jave. When I switch back to Windows if I have any issues I'll include unplugging the router on the next "sweep".

haha, just because people have used that excuse for 7 years doesn't mean its wrong.

I don't hate either OS. I just think that one is as problematic as the other. I've used them both in the working world, too, for a number of years, and they both crash as often, both slow down just as often and I've found myself swearing at both computers just as often.

Those are good programs, but I definitely recommend running a round of combofix

The reason I didn't run the sim the other night was that I had a similar thing going on with my system. ComboFix finaly did the job after MANY hours and MANY anti virus programs giving me nothing but headaches.

I wouldn't say it did the job. I'm still able to run your computer from half a world away...
