No argument here. I don't watch basketball since Jordan retired. Of course that could be why everyone looks the same on a hockey ring to me. I couldn't even understand why people would root for anyone but the Bulls growing up since we all knew they were gonna win and Jordan was gonna be the one to do it in one form or another. The talent in hockey games, like non-Bulls games or games where Jordan was injured, is too balanced for me since I don't know the strategies of the game.

Well, in basketball I know some of the strategies but the same thing happening 160 times per game gets old in any fashion.

I blindly believe this but to me it just looks look grown men playing semi-catch with a puck they semi-control. I'd like to see players juke another player with a through-the-legs puck move and cross-over stuff like in basketball instead of passing anytime a defender comes close.

I have the same problem with soccer.

    I didn't get much from the 1:05 or 3:55.

The Lemieux move at 5:28 or so in Kozure's video wasn't lame but wasn't something that would bring me out of my seat like one man dunking ferociously over another.

Again, I don't watch basketball but I can understand why the highlights are highlights.

I couldn't bring myself to play a game when there's a chance of that happening.
Would ruin it for me too.

Jester, understandable. Hockey isn't for everyone. Just like basketball isn't for me. March Madness bores the hell out of me. I filled my first bracket this year for the fun of it, but I don't watch any of the games. Pitt played today, and I watched about 2 minutes of it. Just can't get into basketball, pro or college. I can watch hockey, any team, any day and be entertained.

But seriously, and I'm not making fun of you, but you find dunks of any kind exciting? Then again, I even think home runs in baseball are boring, even walk off homers. Small ball baseball is what the game's about. With all the juiced up players, seems small ball has become a lost art.

Was just thinking. I don't watch basketball or baseball, but just happens that I think Hoosiers and The Natural are the two best sports movies ever.

If it's live, which I haven't seen in a decade or so since I don't play anymore or go to games, then yes.

If it's on TV then it takes something that I haven't seen before, which doesn't happen often.

But like I said I can understand why it's a highlight: I can either no longer do it or never could. With hockey, though I have no idea what game's going on around me and would be confused by the speed no doubt, I believe I could hit a puck into a 6 foot wide (?) net so watching someone else do it isn't impressive. Though I understand he's a pro and it's hard for some reason all I see is someone waiting for a pass and going through the same motion he's gone through thousands of times. Much like the jump shooter in basketball who should be shot himself unless he has defense or something else involved in his sport to offer!

I've wanted to like hockey many times to play some of the video games, which looked nice, but couldn't do it.

Regarding baseball: All of the game is boring but home runs and home plate collisions are the closest the game's ever had to excitement IMO.

If it's exciting individual plays you enjoy then maybe hockey isn't the perfect sport to you, but OV8 might very well be what could win you over. The man is a highlight reel in himself.

This video from halfway through his rookie-season a few years ago made me realize what a demon he is..

As for my clips, the time was a bit off.. the one in particular that was so nice was suppposed to be the 3:55 one, but it's hard to see..

Check it out here, but in this clip it's the only move:

I watched 10 seconds of the first video and just saw the most impressive hockey play of my life...

Some clips in that video were damn impressive and would get me to watch his games. However the fact that there were a lot of "filler" clips makes me wonder how often some of the nicer stuff happens.

Very nice though and could get me to watch his games if he did it often enough. The behind the back "dribble" (is that correct for manipulating the puck?) was sweet and the move at :43 where he comes to an almost dead stop and jukes the goalie also!!

Is that the Lightning that he's on? I remember telling my hockey friend a loooong time ago that I could rock a Lightning jersey and he explained they were like the Bengals.

If so I'm gonna go ahead and say that I'm a Lightning fan! Move over Blackhawks, who were simply my favorite team by means of Chicago Bears/Bulls transitioning though I never watched a single BH game, I'm now an OV8 fan for what it's worth.

                        Ooh. My hometeam.

I might have to go to a game.

Damn strange place teams (New England, Tampa Bay...). Sports teams are supposed to be state based. It's American!

some of those plays would be considered luck, excet he kept doing them. Liked when he went behind the back off his own skate to get the shot off. He definatly know how to dump the puck into an open space then get there first for the shot.

                              Does his team win???

Just curious cause he is obviously a freak, and sometimes teammates can get caught up watching the freakshow instead of winning games - Barry Sanders

I take it you're referring to Ovechkin now, but yeah, his team is winning (they top the Southeast Division). Hockey is not a one-man sport, it's a primarily a team-game. He's dependant on his linemates to help him out, but if anyone can create opportunities by himself, it's him. He both creates turnovers and handles opportunities given to him by his teammates.
