Ok, well NewEgg kicks ass and I had everything at my door in 3 days. Heres what happened.
So....I get all the parts....spend 2 hours putting it together FLAWLESSLY! I know it's perfect because I have done it so many times and I am meticulous about computers. Plug it all in, push the power button......

It turns on, fans spinning, HD and PWR light working but NOTHING. Doesn't even TRY to post. So I turn it off, double and triple check my work, push the power button NOTHING. Same story. So I disassemble it, put the parts in one by one....still nothing. Won't post. So, the only thing I have not changed is the PS. So I am removing the PS and the box jerks down and snaps off a transistor off the motherboard FFFUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK! LOL

Back to square one. So I shipped it back to NewEgg, and start cruising for compatible parts and I come across this:
ATTENTION! This is a specially manufactured OEM/Tray part that was NEVER intended for retail system builders - they were sold to big companies like Dell and HP for use in PROPRIETARY systems. As a result, MANY retail motherboards DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PROCESSOR PROPERLY AND WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT, EVEN WITH A BIOS UPDATE. Make sure your motherboard can actually recognize and POST this processor before purchasing it, otherwise you will have all sorts of problems!
    SIGH....So plan B is:

Thank you for shopping at Newegg.com.

Your order should be processed and ready for ship-out within 24-48 hours. Below is your confirmation. Please keep a copy for your records.

    1 x ($134.99) MB GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P P45 775 R - Retail
    $134.99

    1 x ($164.99) CPU INTEL|C2D E8400 3G 775 45N R - Retail
    $164.99

Decided to stop being cheap and just go Intel. It's to bad, I have always like the price/performance ratio of AMD and I really want them to be successful but right now, Intel is smoking their ass. It's not even close. Looking at the gaming benchmarks the CPU I was going to get is sitting around 90FPS and the Intel E8400 is around 130..WOW, not even close and well worth the extra $100 bucks.

Too bad. I am always a bang for the $$$ guy.

the box I built almost a couple of years ago has an AMD 64x2 Dual Core 5200+, which is a 2.61ghz chip, and 4gb of RAM, 3gb recognized cause I run XP on it.

GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 / nForce 430 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail motherboard for like $80 or so. Killer MB

later on I got a Nvidia GeForce 8500GT off Newegg for like $80-90. Again it was a bang for trhe $$$ thing.

Using the Raid controller on the MB I have a 931GB stripped raid blazing away. Definatly the way too go IMO. Got 4 250GB WD SATA drives for $70 each.

Kinda splurged on the chip at $200, but it all works well together.

Still using the onboard Sound - Realtek ACL883 thru 2 small legacy speakers.

Still using a legacy 17" CRT monitor.

picked up wireless keyboard and mouse at BB for something a while back

Anyhow even with splurging on the chip $205 and Raid $280 I was able to build the system for $900 but I could have saved $400+ of that if I reused an older case and ignored the Raid and got a slower chip and such.

Hope the newer parts work for you.

FWIW It is DEFINATLY worth the $$$ for the quiet fans - without doubt get good quiet fans for your system
