There is atleast 1 thing that just kills each company so far that I hav had a chance to get a job with end up turning them away. This one was to work for a company out of ShitTaco (Chicago). I would have been on one of two tours that was doing nothing but going around with a trailer set up for video gaming, the PS3 to be exact. Hi-def TVs set up inside, the whole thing. Similar to what I was doing but for only the PS3.

The problem: One tour was 8 months long with no breaks, the other was 11 months long with a few 1 week breaks for holidays.

Fricking insane. Fricking shitty.

No job. No job offer. I don't think my now former company will be resurrected, atleast that is the strong vibe I am getting even though the two guys trying to do it haven't ruled it out.

I am going down to the truck stop tonight and grabbing some trucker mags. Start going through companies to drive solo for.

So after looking through about 50 companies, I picked two that said they hire down here and looked acceptable to me. I did their online pre-applications and heard back from one already this morning. They actually do hire down here, which isn't always the case. One crappy thing about down here is that it can limit what companies you can go to because not every wants a driver living this far down south.

I haven't heard from the other company yet, which hopefully I will because I think they were a notch higher to me because they have fully paid health coverage for even a family. That would be real nice.

good luck. I would think being near Brownsville, I think that is where you are, would be a straegic assett. I would think a lot of loads would hit the border and need a new pilot to continue the drive north. But what do I know.

Brownsville is probably 3rd in my eyes for border towns in this area actually. I am 60 miles up the border from it, and this area (McAllen) is bigger for cross border traffic. Then 2.5 hours further up the border at the end of I35 is Laredo, which would be #1 by far.

It is not an area where you get te biggest variety of companies to choose from though. I don't really care though, as long aas there are a couple of decent ones.

Perhaps I should have started working on a normal trucking job a little sooner. It has been so long that I forgot I am going to have to go up for a 3 day orientation once things are settled and my former companies get back to them on my work history and records.

3 day orientation is stupid to me. What the hell do they have to talk about for three days? Get me up there, give me a road test if you want, then sit me down and have me fill out any needed paperwork the rest of the day. :roll:

Ok, so I am taking a job. Normal, driving a truck, job. I will get used to it, learn to except it. Just set the plans with the company recruiter to leave here on Monday so I can be up there for Tuesday morning and start orientation.

Atleast it is a solo driving job. The wife is (as far as I can tell) not happy because I am not going back to Emerson. And as much as I know that would be the easiest path right now, I just can't do it. She got a little bit of an attitude last night over this and so I spent some time thinking about Emerson again. I just hate the thought of going back there though. I do not want to drive with someone again, it feels like a personal hell to me right now.

So now I will get to hear complaints about the fact I won't have insurance for 3 months, or that I won't be home on set days every week. But fuck it, I need a damn job and can't sit around another two-three weeks waiting for something else to come along. Shit, she should be happy it's not the job I just lost. I am pretty sure she hated me taking that job. :lol:
