no, haven't heard of Glassjaw but now i'm gonna Google them.
i have this thing about me where i have to be in the know about everything. i hate sub-cultures and eliticism - i want to know what's going on everywhere and know all the pop culture phenomena (sp?). when i was watching TBS and all the high school/early college age teens were knowing all the songs and i was reluctantly being included in the mosh pits (my best friend and i were really close to the stage) i was like "how was i missing out on this all this time?". the lead singer Adam was like "thanks to all you who'd come see us at our shows around here" and started naming some area clubs and everyone was shouting and i was like "all this time this band was right underneath my nose and i didn't know about it".
even AFI - i read an article about them in Rolling Stone that they've been around for a while. they're from the industrial era of music and have changed their sound a couple times. apparently they have a big following. seriously, listen to the verses of Miss Murder and tell me that's not new wave!
about the only culture i have no interest in knowing about are those gothic wannabe vampires who go to goth clubs dressed as the Phantom of the Opera. those people give me pause.
