GG Calgary, unfortunately the Thunder played their best game of the season this week.

Gianettino got the game ball for going 12/19 for 160 yards and 3 TDs but it was defense and special teams that carried us to victory especially DE Mickey O'Donnell who had 3 sacks and 3 knockdowns.

Walter Malone had a solid performance in his first game as a Monarch, hauling in all five of his targets for 67 yards. It also looks like some philosophical changes on the defensive side of the ball have had a BIG impact. The Monarch defense forced SEVEN three and outs on eleven Norfolk possessions. That is three and outs on 63.6% of drives! HOLY SMOKES, if the Monarch's D keeps giving performances like that, the team will be unstoppable. It will be interesting to see if West Virginia can find some holes in this defense over the next couple of days.

On a less positive note, London's Red Zone performance was poor (just think of how bad the score COULD have been!) with them getting field goals on all three trips there. A large portion of this has to fall on the shoulders of RB Terrell Hanks who posted a dreadful 1.77 yards per carry this week. Could we see more out of Ian Forbes in the upcoming weeks? He certainly took advantage of the opportunities he had, breaking out for 6.7 yards per carry, and is averaging over a yard per carry more than Hanks this season. Only time will tell, but that would certainly be a big upset in the depth chart if Forbes were to make a move.

We surrendered 8 sacks on qb and lost by three. Starting Center Thrash has been out since being injured in preseason, and hasn't played a down in regular season. The best o lineman I have is languishing on a 4 week injury and he'll be out for week 5, too. Dang.

But 2 and 2 is still in the hunt.

              GG iceman,

Not often does a road team win after gift wrapping 11 4th quarter points and a roughing call when driving for a score inside of 2 minutes remaining in the game. But Columbia's fair catch interference call set up one final pass to put us in field goal position to end it in regulation.

Iowa City's QB Samuel Hillery made a lot of big throws with 287 yards and 4 TDs to spur the win.

I'm pleased to be out of the 4 consecutive road game stretch at 2 - 2.

Good game Donlooky, the game could easily have gone the other way.
Vancouver is off to our typical hot start - tied with the perfidious Stallions for most points scored. We'll come back to earth at some point.

Ugh. This team better get it's shit together. We hold the other team to under 200 total yards for the 3rd week in a row, and we are 1-2 over this stretch. Really ill timed interceptions thrown by Barrett this week doomed us. Defensively we played pretty well, but allowed a touchdown drive that put it out of reach. Really frustrated that we are 2-2 right now.

The weirdest game, I think I've watched...but I'm beginning to have a lot of those. Jumped out early, but just couldn't stop Mathis and Crapo. Everytime I saw, "throwing away from the double coverage", I knew I was sunk. BUT...Dobranski's sack gave us enough room to allow Mathis to just miss the first down marker.

Wesley May comes back this week. But what am I to make of this???

Wesley May, 11 year vet (77/77) 1.5 games, 28 for 58, 283 yards (4.88 avg.), 0 TDs, 1 INT’s, QB rating 55.4, 0-1, and losing in game two until Douglas Crane replaced him due to injury
                          Kelvin Turnball, Rookie (8/28) 2 games, 43 for 57, 420 yards (7.37 avg.), 4 TDs, 0 INT’s QB rating 119.0, 1-1.
                          Douglas Crane, 2nd year (16/22) 0.5 games, 11 for 13, 83 yards (6.38 avg.), 1 TD, 0 INT’s QB rating 118.9, 1-0
