  • Couple Questions?

Hopefully some one else has ran across these problems and can give me a hand. I went to this link http://www.fof-ifl.com/forums/showth...ed-and-ready!! and followed the directions. However I wasn't 100% sure about which team was Cincinnati Bengals due to me changing the city names and Mascots when I first started playing the game in single player. So I have the following questions to make sure I have the right team.

    1. I show Cleveland's starting QB Grant Bechtel & room under cap $14,300,000 is this correct?

    2. When I go to roster it shows the mascots as the mascots in my single player game how do I fix this?

    3. Also under Roster menu when I click on a Cleveland player I get the following message twice "Unable to load past season data site. Saved game is missing." I have tried importing 3 times keep getting same message.

    4. When I go to the thread that says Roll Call it has the following city teams listed, that I don't see under View Full Standings. Calgary, Colombia, Dakota, London, Massachusetts, Montreal, Murfreesboro, Pennsylvania, & Vancouver. I am sure these are listed as other teams like I assumed Texas is Dallas & Georgia is Atlanta, but the ones I listed I am unsure who they are.

If anybody can answer any of these questions I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Ira

    1. Yes he is and they are.

2 - 4 ... should all be fixed if you download & unzip the 90MB file in step #6 of the setup thread.
    St. Louis Archers / Miami Vice 2027 - 2061
    Lansing / Horsetooth Ogres 2062 - 2067

A little bit of advice I was given by FootballAUS and I will pass onto you! Be sure to consider it next week after we play lol.

"Two bits of advice if I can be so bold:

      1. Avoid the temptation to trade your players and picks until you have become more comfortable with playing in a MP league. We are all sharks and we eat noobs alive in trade deals :-)

      2. If you haven't already done so read as many posts as you can athttp://www.operationsports.com/fofc/...splay.php?f=33. There is so much information there that it will be hard to absorb but I cannot think of a better place to learn all the details about how to play this game well."

I know this was directed to Ira, but thanks for the tips! I'll be over at operationsports for the next couple hours

Hey you could follow the Dakota 15 year plan. Trade all your draft picks for players trying to make your current situation work then you hold on through the tough years and draft good and piece together a top caliber team.

Btw... Welcome to the new owners. We needed some fresh blood in this league.

lol nice plan. What players are worth what draft picks? Any guide regarding that? I've seen the one that tells how much each draft pick is worth, but curious what type or rating of player is worth what draft picks.

No problem. I honestly hope we have a really competitive league! Even though I was told not to Trade. I ignored that part because it is part of a bigger picture so take everything with a grain of salt. Secondly found this Thread that is specifically on Defense I will look for something on Offense that is similar and post that here as well.

That could be why people do Trades via PM... Leaving the value of a player up to you and the person you are trading.

Ratings don't always mean everything keep that in mind. Performance and Stats are another thing to keep an eye on.

When valuing a player and what draft picks to give up for him I think its important to look at performance, stats, ratings, age and contract. Then also knowing the value of your draft picks. If you are one of the worst teams in the league I think your picks are worth more than one of the top teams in the league.

I appreciate the insight Dakota! I just spend the last 2 hours reading everything I could on operationsports and have a ton of bookmarks to threads to refer to. Do you know of any other forums that talk about FoF?

Although apparently being updated, some of this material was posted regarding the prior FOF version. But much of the information still is valid.

In OSFL we just got done with the draft prior to it I traded a WR Exp;9 63/63 last 2 years 188 catches for 2644 yards. He was in final year of his contract I traded him for a 4th, 5th, & 7th picks. I was told I really got bad end of deal. However when I told them I was not planning on resigning him. Cause I am looking at resigning a young 85/85 LT and young 97/97 LDE that is going cost me nearly 50Mill total per yr. They agreed better get something than nothing. Also used some of those picks then and swapped around with a really honest guy that had just won the championship that trade landed me a CB that on first impression is a 58, with good Man to man, zone, and interception bars. I originally tried to get a second rd pick for the WR but was not getting any takers.

Dawgfan thanks so much for both of those links! I've been like a sponge these last couple of days really trying to learn as much as I can. I plan on being in this league for a long time.

Ira thanks for breaking down a trade you did! It honestly sounds like a win-win for both sides considering you weren't planning on resigning him.
