Yeah, got some cap room for the first time in a long time and Ouellette still has another ring in him.
Worth throwing some cash at it and seeing what he can do.

I was pleasantly surprised I snagged Terrell Hanks - although he could take a ratings dive in TC. His addition is being countered by the impending loss of Shawn Ragley - so probably a wash for my offense.
I'm surprised only London has dived into the Chamberlin sweepstakes. I guess the cpu teams are still stupid in FA - wish Jim would've have improved that by now.

I franchised Doesburg until i can figure out what the next step at QB will be. He has been very good and without a ton of weapons. But I really dont know that i want to pay him around 20 mil a year for 3 which is what he wants... i really dont have any other options on the roster and no great prospects in the draft. Decisions decisions...

Got no money or I'd go after Jacobs.

thought I had a clue about the going rate for some of these free agents, but my offers aren't even competitive thus far. The joys of being new.

What you might see is not necessarily the truth. Less money in bonus offer and more money in later years when the contract won't be renegotiated.

Some GMs may not have wanted to reveal their offer since Chamberlin wanted to sign during FA 3.

Doesn't occur often, but a team stole my QB in the FFL one year. So, there is some risk of delaying an offer, but probably minor.

I would hope that if a good offer was presented the player would sign earlier than anticipated. If not, we could exploit the system by offering an inflated contract early and withdrawing it prior to that phase in hopes that other GMs will over extend.

That happens a lot more often than people realize
I know some GMs do it so that teams cant afford to bid on as many players...hoping that they land one because of that
Some GMs make super low bonus/super high salary offers just to drive up the price....knowing that the player would never sign that deal
and...when one team withdraws an offer...sometimes that will make the player sign

you have to decide what the player is worth to you
once it goes over that amount...you stop bidding
or you can just keep raising your offer....not realizing that it may now be twice or three times what you started at

Chamberlin signed for $25 mil a year - expensive but doesn't seem outrageous to me.
Mass got a solid starting QB in Wilkins for only $7 mil a year - my slightly better QB cost me 3 times as much!
