Carson Palmer comes to mind. Flashes of brilliance followed with mediocre play. Or it could just be my dumb gameplanning that isn't playing to his strength. McNeil went from average to great under Mark's leadership.

      Dola,

And May doesn't play defense. A fullback...95 yards...I should have upped the ante for Clemons.

I don't know that I had much to do with it.
I think this season has burned in the importance of the head coach. At least that is the biggest difference in VAN from last year to this one. I'm sure there are other factors, but the HC seems to be a big one. Never changing my HC before, I was unprepared for the drop-off (not that I could have done much about it - but I might have made a different choice)
I kind of hope FOF7 reduces HC influence a bit, but the whole staff draft is going to change up coaching anyway (at least I think so-I haven't played it myself).

Having a long term HC helps things. I think I read somewhere that having the same coaches gives you some sort of cohesion boost and reduces penalties. thats FOF2007 speak tho. I'm not sure how the coaches impact on the new game. i haven't really played it
