Why is it whenever a change is mentioned that it's instantly met with the "well if you don't like it, join a league that offers it"? First, I've been in the league for almost 20 seasons now, it's not so easy to just pack up and go. Secondly, putting it to the polls and seeing how the majority feels about a proposed change is democracy at work.

After 7+ real life years for a good chunk of the league, it's not a bad idea to test the waters on a faster sim schedule or fixing a meaningless preseason. Obviously the sim schedule was shot down, and I'm fine with that, but to paraphrase Iverson.. preseason? We're talking about preseason? preseason? Come on, man? preseason?

I'm no expert at FoF, but I do know the benefits of the current preseason format are minimal compared to a changed preseason with no injuries. What am I going to learn putting random players in against random players at random times all while having almost 0 control? Oh sweet, my rookie RB picked up 100 yards against a possible combination of backups and starters all while using a combo of backup and starting offensive linemen. Oh wait, now he's injured for the season, well it's a good thing he showed me what he could do in the meaningless game.

I know injuries happen in the NFL during preseason, but this isn't the NFL. They have plenty of other opportunities we don't to practice gameplans in safe, controlled environments. Tom Brady doesn't play 50% of the preseason otherwise he'll come out in week 1 with some random 'rusty' label and have a 50 passer rating. Coaches also get to see what Brady has for accuracy and rust by his play against certain opponents. We don't have any of those luxuries... and even with those advantages, they still wanted to chop off 2 games from the preseason because it sucks so bad.

As far as the sim going too fast, again, refer to my Iverson paraphrase. Nobody cares about preseason in real life, and it's even worse in a computer game. Since we have an opportunity to make it useful, I don't see why it shouldn't be considered. (and yes, an injury-free preseason is a useful one whether it's simmed in 5 different games or 1 batch)

    * I know Iverson was talking about practice and not preseason, which is why I paraphrased and didn't quote.

Jave, I always play my starters throughout preseason. I never sit them. Dont like to mess with changing the depth charts. Me being lazy.
Sugar is a stud. And Farrell had near 100 yards receiving and a TD. Including a 75 yard TD reception..

As far as the 1-3 and 4-5 thing. It would not matter to me. Injuries on or off doesnt matter, either. It s a bunch of 0s and 1 s running around. Let them get hurt.

Being a team with a long history of 4-5 starters being injured in preseason, I would vote on the injuries off scenario. That's probably obvious to everyone though. Screw realism and this "GM's should be better game managers with the injuries", turn that crap off in preseason.

I learn stuff from pre-season and it's not fair to those like me for us to lose that "study time" because others can't find anything to gain. With this knowledge, none of you can truly say "Pre-season is useless", only "Pre-season is useless for me".

And injuries should be kept on because depth is part of roster management and one that some people (tarcone this off-season for good or bad) choose to gamble away. When Tulsa traded all those picks for one player they took on the risk of losing everything if that one player goes down. Teams in that situation shouldn't now get 4 free games of injury-risk. I plan on injuries every season, not hope for none. That's due diligence.

EDIT: I haven't used FA in IFL history but I wouldn't choose to run it all in one sim out of consideration for others, and only consideration for others because 1 sim FA would be wonderful for me. Get right to the draft that I phocus on!

I'm totally against turning injuries off in pre-season. In fact, I'm fine with how pre-season is currently run altogether. I wouldn't mind seeing weeks 1-2 ran at the same time as long as the teams in week 1 are not playing in week 2.

You know Jester, I learned something this last game. I am tinkering with my GP to best use my weapons. And I noticed that if you stack the box against me, Sanford and Andrews will be deadly. If you ignore the run, Sugar will run all over you.

Good luck to you guys trying to GP against Tulsa this season.

Jester, I never drat so lets just put in preferences and do that in one night. Who needs the draft? Free Agency is where the action is. 1o straight division titles proves that.

I have no problem with a week of preseason games. And our injury setting isnt that high that we need to shut it off.

I bet our records are very similar during that stretch run. My less-than-10 division titles is thus a testament to my fellow NC East'rs.

BTW - I was just using your case as the most recent and high profile example to make my point. I'm not rooting one way or the other but just want the odds of the game not to change midway. Same as I wouldn't want the deuces pulled out of the deck just because the majority of the table only plays K's and A's.

Yea, because paying 70 million over 4 years for a 50 rated player is so much fun:shithappens:

                        Draft, draft, draft.....FA sucks.

I don't think it's useless, but in it's current form it's pretty damn close. I think we would have a lot better learning / tweaking experience with injuries off, which would at least make this boring part of the season actually useful.

Like I said, because this isn't the NFL and we don't have the luxury of the controlled, safe environment of practices to learn stuff, we could actually use this time much more effectively than the randomness of the current preseason model.

We can keep it the way it is, it's what I signed up for to begin with, but I'll never really understand the hesitation on changes for the preseason.

No, no, no...on the no injuries/fast preseason. I use the preseason to evaluate rookies, 2nds and 3rds. This is why I play them the most. I usually play my starters in wk 4 or 5 so they get rid of some rust atleast. This is a good way to avoid injuries in the preseason. Just dont play your stars. I like when teams in rl do too ie keep their main stars out some. Besides the ps-week only lasted a week. I would be in favor of no midweeks since we have 60 man rosters though.
