I created this to respond to BOSS however everyone is welcome to post their opinions so people will leave my trade block thread for trades rather then direct conversations with me. I will discuss and defend any criticisms about the direction I choose with the franchise.
First of all, you've been somewhat of a venomous owner for the last few years so I wasn't even going to respond, however the aggressiveness of the post more or less demands one.
I've been an owner in this league since it was formed minus two vacations. For the most part my teams have always been competitive, with the exception of the early years in the league when I admittedly didn't quite know the best way to go about this.
The tone of your post is quite disturbing. You act as if I have no idea what I'm doing and intentionally destroying a great team however, I have studied the team and the one thing that stood out to me was the age. Most of the players, including key players were for the most part, all entering their 10th-12th season. As anyone knows who has played this game, including yourself, not only will their skills start declining rapidly, the trade value of those players degrades to almost nothing around the 12th season which would have put me in a tough spot as the majority of the team would start retiring in huge numbers 5-6 a year for the next 4 seasons.
Now I could have gone deep into the playoffs THIS year with the great team Jeffery left, or I can look to the future of the franchise and rebuild while the players have good trade value, netting me numerous draft pick allowing me to start a youth movement in Portland which would assure the franchise a chance to win for the next decade, rather then the next 2 seasons. I choose the latter.
Second of all, it's none of your business what I do with this team. If Matt didn't feel as if I was a positive owner or made good decisions he wouldn't have invited me to return to the league. Aside from DG, who entered the league, traded away all his draft picks and has yet to obtain a winning record, I've never said a word about what any owner does with his team. Every owner has his own methodology on the way he wants to run his team and has the freedom to do so. While rebuilding Portland may seem extreme, it's the best way to win in the future, rather then selling out to win just this year.
I enjoy this team and this league and welcome the opinion of any owner, but I know WTF I am doing or I wouldn't have done it in the fashion I did.
