I think this is going to be my last season in the IFL. With two kids playing sports and one of them in elementary school, I'm thinking of giving up FOF completely to focus on family. As it is now, this league and the RNFL are the main draws for me to the game. Need to force myself to give one up. I run the RNFL, I'm not quitting that just yet. By the end of the year, or maybe by fall, I'll be out of the game completely.

Sucks since my rivalry in this league with r00k is my favorite in all my leagues. Hate to give that up.

Thanks for putting up with me for the past 5 years. Had a blast. Maybe I can go out with a championship.

    bah!
this sucks man. One of the better players out there......

that said, I totally understand. I've got 3 kids (15,12,7) and all 3 in school and sports. I have a job and coach my oldest's bball team. My middle daughter plays for the team next season and I'm sure I'll get dragged into that too. Doesn't leave a whole lot of time for the game.

I may come back after a good bit of time off. Just need a long breather. A 2012 retirement and a 2014 return, perhaps.

Been playing online since 2004. It's hard to give up.

Well your team is about to rebuild and I've heard that it's hell in this league so you might want to just remain GM of the Beasts but not be as active until 2014. That's about 4-5 seasons I think and would have you ready to compete again when hopefully you're rebooted for some FOF.

One of the biggest regrets (ok...maybe that's hyperbole) was leaving the Dakota franchise. I missed it after a couple of months but I remember thinking...I just can't do this right now with where my life is. So in coming back, it took me a long time to think of myself as the Reno GM, and found it hard not to follow DakotaGeorge's moves as he made the team his own. Since that time, I've enjoyed a more relaxed IFL, enjoying that it only sims once a week, and, especially in this rebuilding time, I don't have to be overly involved all the time, but can immerse myself ever so often making tweaks that I think will improve our performance.

no, i don't mind rebuilding, but I feel pretty confidently I wouldn't rebuild. I'd retool and keep winning. I see my worst record being 10-6 in any of the next 5 seasons with the possible of a few more top 2 seeds. I'm sure the backup QB Van Verth will be a very good QB once he takes over full time for Markel. And if Markel doesn't retire at the end of the year, I see us having a great year next year too.

This is more of a time restraint kind of thing and plan on quitting all leagues sometime this year. I'm at the point where I know just about everything I can about this game. My only weakness being the draft. I'm an average, at best, drafter, due more to me being lazy at looking at prospect rather than not knowing what to do. I have no patience for the more meticulous aspects of FOF anymore, though I do gameplan extensively for each game.

OH MY GOD! ... Oh my God! I am seeing this thread for the first time tonight ... and I am having many reactions as I too enjoy our rivalry very, very much. Our friendly rivalry is simply the best in all the leagues that I am in (one baseball and two football).

Kojure, I might be wrong but I thought to notice that your usual attention to detail faded a tad in this season's offseason, especially when the coach hiring phase started. If I am correct, I was probably the only one that noticed since I follow every move or non move that you make as you probably do to my moves (i.e., I noticed that you went to a 4 man front this last sim ... which by the way seems to be an interesting move, especially since it is just before the playoffs). Anyway, I wondered if something was up in the off season but put those thoughts aside when your team started to consistently kick some serious butt.

Your leaving would be a great loss for the division, the league and to me personally. But I also understand that the life style changes will take us to new demensions that should not be ignored.

A few seasons back, I remember that I also was going to leave the league as I had different commitments with my dad passing and some other health issues in my family. Change is not a bad thing ... actually it can be very refreshing. In the end, I compromised and brought my online play to one baseball team and one football team. For football, the choice was the IFL (our rivalry and the easy going format of this league made that decision easy). I ended up quitting two other baseball leagues and two other football leagues. Anyway, the balance in my life returned when I quit those other leagues.

I am glad I didn't totally quit all on-line play because the rebalanced events around me allowed new energy and enjoyment in all facets. I probably would have been ok if I quit all on-line play but I also think that a total void would not have been a great choice for me after so many years of play. By the way, I added another football league at the beginning of this year ... it has been more of a personal challenge thing but it has been good.

So, Kozure, I understand where you are at ... I hope you reconsider but if you do take a respite from this league, I hope you also return. This is a very unique league and the likes of you make it what it is.

... and just for the record ... the Vipers are still in the playoff hunt and if by chance we meet again ... well, just don't count those chickens before they are hatched!

Haha, yeah, will look forward to one last possible matchup. If there is a way to go out, that would be it.

Anyway, I need to quit all leagues. If I stay in even one, I know one, two or three more will creep back in, and I'll be back where I started. As you said, I forgot to resign my coaches and I don't do interviews anymore due to the time commitment of scrolling through prospects. I'm skipping over so much of what makes the game enjoyable. Need to back away, recharge and maybe recommit later on.

And yes, I switched to the 4-3. I felt it benefitted my personnel. My WLB just wasn't cutting it and my top 2 DEs and DTs could generate a better pass rush. We'll see.
