2021 Week #11 Discussion

Now I know why they're called the F-Birds.....
Watching that game I must've said the F-word twenty times!!

A win would've realistically clinched the division, but now it's gonna go down to the last week or so.

Apart from Ouellette's first pass (returned for a pick six) our offense played very well.
Ouellette threw for 3 TD's, Diedrich had another 100yd plus game, Graham hit 150yds rushing.
Can't blame the offense.

Defensively, we just couldn't come up with a turnover or big stop.
Montreal's punter kept the pressure up in the 2nd half with three straight punts pinning us back inside our 5yd line.
From there we kept punting it back with Montreal starting at midfield....sooner or later the D was gonna snap and give up a TD.

In the end, the Firebirds had the ball last and scored a chip shot FG to win as time expired.

GG Chris, two very equal sides but we came up just short.
Gotta split the games with a win at your place now.

No idea how we pulled this out. Fully expect to go 6-10 :-)

Penn starts off 14-0, and it feels like a blowout is in order. Then alas, we re-group, and play ball control after gaining the lead...with a 26-14 victory. Instead of 2.5 games back, we are now .5 games out of first in the division. If we stay this close the rest of the way, week 17 will be very interetsing.

Very nice game for your team. Our offense and particularly our running game was non existent other than a 40 yards run.

This thing is gonna have to be settled in week 17.

Yike... I'm feeling the loss of Caro, now. Bauer goes down for four weeks and I'm stuck depending on a rookie. We'll see how that works out...

St Louis missing 3 FG's (two in thier first 3 drvies) and taking advantage of Caro's 4 INT's (Heath taking one back for 6 points) were the keys to the win.

I knew this was going to be a tough one as defences seemed to be on top though the Mules running game did just about enough. Happy to grab the win here and hoping the week 17 rematch we have nothing on the line as I can certainly see a completely different result.

Hey I am glad the Pirates could finally have that affect on the Phantoms. You have been killing us for so very long it was nice to be relevant again. Next we need to topple the Bulldogs!!

Markel's had just a crazy season. 33 TDs in 10 games and now I have five of my final 6 games at home. With how old my guys are and losing my starting offensive tackles to retirement, I didnt see this kind of success as being possible. But here we are. I'll take it. I'll enjoy it. I'll try to take full advantage of it. I don't see us doing this for much longer.
