I've been doing some research trying to find the instance where we differentiated Late from Early and I can't find it. So yeah, I'm going to void the contract tomorrow. He will be available to everyone during the training camp stage on Sunday.

I am just saying and I know you are voiding it which I support 100% but my position was if it isn't in the constitution its not a rule. Otherwise we could be making up rules on the fly all the time. Like BOSS said most the people have been following the rule listed in the constitution that it is ANY contract and this thread was the first we heard of any idea of differential between 2 stages.

P.S. I didn't bid on the guy either so I have no personal gain interest here. Just think if we are going to have rules they should be documented and public info so people can follow them.

This was the right choice here. EFA or LFA, the rules should be the same.

Maybe I'm just imagining things because the other leagues I've been in have separated early and late fa rules. In any event it will be added to the constitution from here on out either way.

Nonsense. The rule was put in place to keep owners from exploiting the game mechanics. Unlike having a human commissioner, the game is unable to police itself. This is why the addition to the standard ruleset is necessary.

Which is why the rule if we keep it over this 3 year flat plan that is being purposed should stay the way it is and be for ANY contracts.

Sorry but I read the rule and understood it that I had to match bonus with contract...

While I likely would have still lost him to Texas... I offered a deal that was worth more per season based off the rules at play... 10m Bonus... 5/5.25 in a 2 year deal...

I have one of the highest available cap and had I known that it was EFA only... I would have bid and got him in the first round... And I do feel that the other teams in the bidding on him were following the same formula as the rule based off the contracts offered.

Granted I realize we are talking of voiding it... voiding it or not... that is a league choice and I am not worried either way... but I did make my offer based off the rule... even rechecked the rule prior to my last offer to make sure I was not in violation.

Crap.
I obviously overlooked the rule with my offer to the guard.
It was an honest mistake on my part but clearly I was the only team who made the error and I agree the right thing is to void the contract.
