I actually think it makes sense. This player is an extreme exception. BUT it doesn't seem to be in the constitution.


2. League Contract Rules

2a. Yearly Bonus Rule For One and Two Year Deals:
The yearly bonus amount in one-year AND two-year deals offered to free agents cannot exceed the yearly amount of salary. Here is an example of a contract that is illegal.

Total Bonus - 8 million
Year 1 Salary = 2 million, Year 1 Bonus = 4 million
Year 2 Salary = 2 million, Year 2 Bonus = 4 million

The maximum total bonus allowed with those salaries would be 4 million (two million in year 1 and year 2).

Any contract that violates this rule will be voided during the next sim.

2b. Franchise Tag Rule:
A player who is signed to a one-year deal as an unrestricted free agent the previous year cannot have the franchise tag slapped on him the season after the one-year deal is signed.

Any contract that violates this rule will be voided during the next sim.

It says nothing in the constitution about LFA being different from EFA. This should be void and the rule re-written if that is case.

I think you should void it for the integrity of the league. Post the rule more clearly and give the others who had no idea this rule existed a shot at the guy. Just my 2 cents...

I'm not gonna void it because that wouldn't be fair to Wichita who I'm pretty sure offered the deal knowing what I've said in the past. You're right that it not being layed out anywhere probably put some guys at a disadvantage and I am sorry about that but I'm not gonna change the way I've been handling late fa now. There will be a clarification put in and most likely next year we'll be switching to flat 3 year deals during all of all early fa and that will be the only limitation. I need to redo the Constitution anyway.

I've been making LFA contracts with equal bonus and salary, so that I don't break the rules. If it is the case that it's an Early FA only rule, it wasn't clear to me either.

So let me get this straight. during late free agency where teams may still be competing for FAs and undrafted players you can offer all bonus to guys to buy them? Cool. can you explain in detail why there is a difference in late FA and Early FA on this rule? Can you explain why there should be a difference? Also can we get an explanation of why the rule is there in the first place and then turn around and ask ourselves why it shouldn't be a rule for late just early.

Oh could I also know what other rules the league has that we dont actually have listed under rules? I think this would be good to know going forward.

Oh god how I've missed you.

I've been doing some research trying to find the instance where we differentiated Late from Early and I can't find it. So yeah, I'm going to void the contract tomorrow. He will be available to everyone during the training camp stage on Sunday.

Oh and George, we don't enforce every rule here just so you know. I mean, if we were strict about the anti douche bag rule you'd have been gone a long time ago.
