Its interesting that Amos threw for 481 yards but only 1 TD. Thats almost 5 football fields of passing yards. Yet he found the end zone once.

GG West Virginia. Way too many big padding plays allowed especially on 1st down...
Good luck the rest of the way.
I do wonder if there is any point having quality CB's in this game as despite having the best in the league Markel shredded us all day

Cohesion is a big factor. Not sure what your secondary cohesion is, but if it's not good, talent won't always make up for it against an offense that has good talent and cohesion. My passing cohesion isnt top notch, but it's good. Keep that defense together as long as you can. It has it's best years ahead.Originally posted by dthompso8 View PostI do wonder if there is any point having quality CB's in this game as despite having the best in the league Markel shredded us all dayTwo-time IFL Champion (2014, 2015)

It is ridiculous that you can have a top-notch S and CB on one side of the field and still not completely shut down even average WRs on that side. As they say you're "on an island" so CB vs WR skills should match up pretty evenly and the better player should simply have better odds of winning each battle for the most part.Originally posted by dthompso8 View PostI do wonder if there is any point having quality CB's in this game as despite having the best in the league Markel shredded us all day
I don't ever expect to see proper results from the FOF engine regarding CBs however I do think, like everything else, if I have better CBs than my opponent it's some type of advantage worth having, especially if the QB/WR/WR basics are about equal.

There is no such thing as a shut down corner in FOF. I dont know why, but this kind of thing just doesnt bother me. There is such a thing as a shut down defense, and you need good cohesion to have one, usually.Originally posted by JesterBlaze View PostIt is ridiculous that you can have a top-notch S and CB on one side of the field and still not completely shut down even average WRs on that side. Good game, Mike. I really thought those fumbles inside of my 20 would be the end of me, but Bauer saved our asses. He didn't have much help from his line, either. He was under pressure all day and tucked and ran 7 times.Originally posted by Mike17 View PostWe got outscored in a shootout. Definitely not how I thought the game would go.
Man am I tired of losing to Jeffrey
Rumor has it that one of your players will begin next season suspended for hitting him in the helmet when he was a runner even though that's legal.

I don't know if my secondary is up for a defensive slugfest. Those receivers of yours are going to be a matchup nightmare to gameplan against.Originally posted by Kozure View PostRevenge for the humiliation of last year. Good game, dthomso8.
Now get to finally face jeffrey in a IFL championship game. Brings back good memories (read: nightmares).
Thankfully, I seem to have righted the West Virginia ship after a very shaky second half of the season. Defensively we are playing well and Markel just put in what may have been his best game of the season.
That being said, I expect Jeffrey to gameplan the hell out of this one and for this game to be a defensive slugfest. Only way it gets out of hand is if one of us turns the ball over and the other team runs away with the game. Could happen. We are very turnover prone.
Today's game against the Mules shows what we can do when we don't give the other team the ball.
I think this will come down to whose offensive line holds up.

My ears are perked with partial hope: Has anyone actually dominated any FOF leagues via defense without a great offense to compliment?Originally posted by Kozure View PostThere is no such thing as a shut down corner in FOF. Jester, you showed lots of class after that loss ... not sure I could have been as gracious.

Someone good enough at this game to have a shutdown defense is never going to have a "bad" offense.Originally posted by JesterBlaze View PostMy ears are perked with partial hope: Has anyone actually dominated any FOF leagues via defense without a great offense to compliment?Current GM Fresno Warthogs

I've been doing very well in the NAFL and RNFL with mostly defense, but my best years certainly come when I'm clicking on offense as well.Originally posted by JesterBlaze View PostMy ears are perked with partial hope: Has anyone actually dominated any FOF leagues via defense without a great offense to compliment?

But I agree with Mike, that one complements the other, not just in the sense of a good defense boosting an offense, but a good offense will certainly boost a defense, too.

Al Michaels says "It looked like Mccoy was going to run, but he pulled up at the last second," but you know better, do you? It must be your deep research into resentment and whining that makes you such an expert. Do tell...Originally posted by Kobeck View Postagreed, if they actually run - lol

Yeah, a great defense can and will set your offense up with good field position which increases the chance for easy scores.Two-time IFL Champion (2014, 2015)
