The mechanics of the game are such that a rookie wants what he wants. If he doesnt take the larger/longer deal, you bite the bullet and give him the larger/shorter deal. Not much you can do to buck the system. It seems to be hard-coded into the 1s and 0s :-(

6th round RB Csonka was converted to SE -- small but I think I got something in him.

I like my draft class -- added alot of players via the draft and picked up a decent starting RB, LT, and a couple of DEs...should be enough to pop Jave's cherry again this season

For the last time... the rookie mechanic is completely different than the rest of the game. If he doesn't wanna sign for more years, nothing on hell or earth will change the 1's and 0's in the game engine. He will only sign for less years. Period.

I have NEVER, in the history of the game had a guy refuse the higher($) of the higher year contracts. EVER. This guy is the 1st. There would be no need for negotiators if guys were locked into certain year/money contracts in the game code. While you may be right, it doesn't seem right.

In my experience, if a rook refuses a contract once, he will never sign that contract. You could offer it to him every stage until the superbowl and he'll never sign it.
