rename the existing exe and drop the updated file into FOF root folder

Yup. Veteran minimum was lowered. I had 14 WOOF players getting the exception pre-patch, now I have only 2. IIRC, the same thing was the case last year, and perhaps the year before as well.

I basically asked the same question over at FOFC. Here is Bens response:

It's not mentioned in the change log, so it's hard to say with certainty, but nearly all (if not all) of these yearly updates have included changes to the algorithm that determines what contract a player requests. If you're on 6.3b and your commish is on 6.4, it's possible that you may see a contract amount being requested that is incorrect and won't be accepted by the player when the commish tries to import your file. It's always the best practice to stay on the same version as the league commish.

There's one issue here. The patch drops the minimum salaries very slightly, which can foul up the salary cap situation. You could be submitting seemingly "affordable" renegotiations, only to find they don't work if the commish has patched.
