I think I speak for most when I say that most of the bitching and moaning takes place not necessarily because of the times allocated to each round, but because we are sometimes held up by players who do not seem to even be involved in the league...because we KNOW they will not show up during the entire 4 hours they have. The frustration simply comes from knowing that we are waiting for no reason.

There's really nothing we can do about that, and it's just venting, really.

Any other bitching is just impatience, but harmless impatience.

As long as we see people participating and actually showing up at some point to point, even at the end of their 4 hours, there doesn't seem to be any long term ill-will.

Feel free to support me or disagree with me :-)

This right here^^^^^.........The owners who are not involved will not show if you give them 2 hours, or 8 hours. That's the frustration. It doesn't matter how much time you give em. No list, no PM's to Sui or Matt, no posts that they are working an they will make their pick when they get home....nothing. Silence. And like Chris said, if I see an owner pop in every now and again and he's at least TRYING to be active I don't mind one bit waiting the entire 4 hours. But in the middle of a draft waiting on an owner you check to see when he last logged in and it's been 2 days, that's the frustration.

If someone doesn't log into the draft, they are on autopilot. So someone who log's into the draft technically "signs up" for being ready to draft for his team. Missed picks do happen. I'm sure we've all done it before. We also finish out the draft in 4 days usually. Sometimes round 1 moves great, sometimes round 2 does.

We did move slow, but the only rule I would implement is the commish rule. i.e. we can do what's best for the draft and draft for any team at any time. Or we can call it the DG rule.

I agree completly with Suicane. I would even go as far as to suggest 90 mins for round 5 as well.

The IFL draft is the event of the year for 31 teams. It is almost a certainty that every team believes they have improved. Those big red bars are still big and all those holes are filled perfectly.

in one of the other leagues I play in we reduce the time allowed for a team in a round by 50% when they miss a pick... so if they miss the first round, if the 2nd round was 2 hours they would only get one, a second miss sees another 50% reduction and so on...

Would this take care of the no shows...
On my behalf I am based in the UK so 12am EST is 5am in the morning... funnily with two children in the house who are up about 7am I am not staying up that late...
I can set a queue but when that may be multiple rounds in that time frame it is difficult to set as I may want to draft one position more than once but not others etc...

                Just my few cents...

Your not the problem. Hell I would ask for extra time if your active in the draft. It's the players who are pretty much AFK the entire draft and we sit and wait hour after hour when everyone knows he's not gonna show up, cause he hasn't even logged into the site in days.

I agree. While we may bitch and moan, it is TOTALLY a different scenario for an active owner who just happens to not be able to make it. I think we all are cool with that, as loud as we complain ;-) Its the 'he's not here and he's never going to be here' people that have lingering ill effects.

I wish FOF got better over time as does our Great Suicane. I'm all for Suicane's suggested schedule and thought process.

Given DThompson's post on the UK times and the IFL's continued world domination I'm thinking maybe we should have some leniency towards those in non-US time zones... if not on the time limits themselves then maybe on the 50% reduction or something.
