One thing I've noticed at several league forums is that people seem to have wish lists. This isn't meant to chastise anyone, but have you reported these things to Solecismic Support? I just want to remind everyone that just because something is posted at FOFC or considered "common knowledge" among FOF MP leagues, it doesn't mean that Solecismic is even aware of it. I'll give a specific example of something that I've noticed to have been changed in the 6.3 demo.

In 6.2 and prior versions, if you Rex defense, you stand about a 10% chance of GL defense being called even on 1st and 10 in the middle of the field (~20% run aggressive * ~50% GL usage). I sort of offhand mentioned this in communication with Solecismic just 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it was clear that this was the first time it was ever reported. I've examined the demo, and it's now changed: GL defense is only used in true GL situations plus 3rd and 1 (and maybe 4th and 1...didn't find any of those yet).

Point being, this GL issue is something I've known about for a good 2 1/2 to 3 years. I just assumed that Solecismic was aware of it. Clearly, the company wasn't. Fortunately, I brought it up as a sidebar to another discussion. Solecismic asked for clarification on what I meant. I went into detail, and it is apparently fixed in 6.3. Lesson learned: never take for granted that Jim knows about something in FOF that I think is just common knowledge.

Shortly that exchange, I sent several other "common knowledge" issues. Unfortunately, it may have been too late. It was sent just two weeks ago. I have no idea if he had time to address any of the stuff I mentioned. It's impossible to check in the demo.

An extended thought on the same topic...

I do have a pretty strong suspicion that only a small handful of people report game balance issues that aren't "bugs" per se. For example, if it's something like "it's too easy to renegotiate contracts," that's not a bug. It's a game balance and/or design decision. However, I would guess that at least 250 MP participants agree that it's too easy to renegotiate contracts. If Solecismic Support got emails about it from 250 different people, that would be MUCH better received and more likely to affect change than how I suspect it is now--maybe three or four people officially reporting it. That comes across like it's just the rantings of a small handful of grognards who want the game to be uber-difficult. But those of us who play in multiple leagues have a strong idea that the reality is that the great majority of MP participants agree that it should be harder to reneg contracts so that FA could be more meaningful.

There is a lot of people who seem to have issues with various aspects of the game and assume someone else has brought it up. Maybe Jim should start playing again!
I'd love for the financial model to work. I'd even take 2k4's version.
the only bad thing about a new patch is that it likely means we won't see anything resembling a new version of this game in quite some time.
