  • A patch is needed in this game

I will be retiring after this season if Jim doesn't fix the game engine. I have 2 pro bowl cornerbacks and this is the results from the last 3 games:

    Jon Cavazo 21/32 248yds 2TD's 1 pick rating: 96.9
    Will Irby 22-25 239yds 2TD's 0int's rating: 133.2
    Ruben Sante 25/28 178yds 1TD 0int's rating: 104.2\

The game engine has to account for talent at the CB position regardless. You can not allow your game engine to have a QB-WR-WR setup to pretty much do whatever they want, Jim has to fix this coding. We all know the game is set up this way, so unless your lucky enough to acquire the "Big Three" your going to lose.

Now you can say I just suck at gameplanning..fine, I accept that, however NO QUARTERBACK IN THE ENTIRE IFL should have the kind of success QB's do on a regular basis against my defense. It HAS TO ACCOUNT at some point for having outstanding CB's and not allow the accurate, precision, pinpoint passing accuracy against the 2 best corners in the league on a regular basis.

Again, we all know the key to winning in FOF right now is QB/WR/WR. I am just begging Jim for some balance. 2 weeks in a row now I have an outstanding offensive line and here is the results:

Geoff Wilson 9 rushes 20 yds
Geoff Wilson 14 rushes 32 yds

This is from a solid run blocking offensive line and a running back rated 91. WTF?
Why if the game accounts for outstanding quarterback and receivers does it not account at all for outstanding run blockers and runningbacks?

This has to change. I'm not being a little bitch because I lost. I build a solid, strong team, however since the game engine is so flawed, it makes no difference. That is my only gripe.

The game definitely has it's flaws, but keep in mind two huge factors:

    1. Ratings are not guaranteed. Look at Schwartz so far (sorry Kobeck)

    2. For arguments sake, let's say your CB ratings are accurate or even close to it, they should be extremely good and be able to shut down most receivers most of the time. There are problems with that,

-- Your defense is in the lower pack of the league in pass rush. I don't care how good a CB is, the longer a QB has to throw, the more advantage goes to a receiver.

-- The major issue with your team however, is your entire secondary. Your 3rd CB is ok but not developed yet, and your 4th CB is awful. Your SS is pretty bad, and your FS doesn't have great pass coverage bars.

That being said, your overall pass defense hasn't been horrible this season. Maybe the last few games, but you're middle of the pack at overall yards allowed, and opp QB rating. That's actually pretty good considering what you're running out there after your top 2 CB's

Ratings are deceiving. Damon Christman is a pass defense machine in our zone system. He's really not that good on paper.

Jave...and don't quit. play the game for community that we've built...keep tweaking...some day we will all find the mystical combinations that will bring us an IFL trophy. Don't want to lose you bud.

              Jave,
I hear your beef and feel your pain. I'd like to think that there are some things that you could be doing to better your chances of winning. That said, you can't take 1 or 2 games as a sample to figure if what you're doing is right.
Get a comfortable baseline of where you want to be, and tweak things until you get them where you want to be. Keep your head up. You've got a great young team and things will turn around. Look at MUR.

your RB not being sucessful is from teams game planning to stop the run. I think it is no secret that when teams play you agressive run defense with formation 1 deep most the time crowds the line and stops your rb. I aswell shut your running back down cept for one run play in the 4th Q for like 48 yards when i was looking for all pass on 3rd n short.

hey Jave. It's only this league. In other league's I'm in, I've found out ways to be successful against the pass. I can't figure it out in this league, however. This league is a enigma of sorts when it comes to the pass.

Passing in the NFL through week 4:

                      Drew Brees 9TD's 2int's
                      Peyton Manning 9TD's 3int's
                      Jay Cutler 8TD's 5int's
                      Brett Favre 8TD's 1int

                      IFL:
                      Roderick Amos 12TD's 1int
Otis "Opie" Peterson 24TD's 3int's (Seriously, WTF?)
                      Matt Sanford 13TD's 1int
                      Deron Markel 14D's 1int
                      Sammy Mathews 17TD's 2int's
                      Donnie Johnston 14TD's 2int
                      Virgil Sepulveda 14TD's 4int's
                      Edward Jacobs 15TD's 4int's
                      Clayton Chung 13TD's 2int's
                      Orlando Surratt 13TD's 3int's

I mean, seriously, 14QB's in the league averaging over 100 passer rating? Doing the math...

                      149 Touchdowns vs
                      23int's

Are you fucking kidding me? This is NOT realisitic and it tells me the game is weighing the passing game way to fucking high. In order to do that, it is required to give a negative rating to teams passing defense, including cornerbacks and safety's, thus making one half of your team useless. You might as well not even bother adding any defensive backs.

                      More to come....

I totally agree with you. It's no secret I am going to run the ball with Wilson and yes, teams can gameplan to stop the run. My gripe is this:

                        My offensive line:
C Gerald Shelton Rated 88, run blocking 100
LG Blaine McCormick Rated 60 run blocking 68
RG Chuck Parrish Rated 69 run blocking 77
LT Clifton Erbaugh Rated 53(just took a huge hit moving him to LT Runblocking 52
RT Duane Barton Rated 61 runblocking 100

My point is this. In the NFL, with that offensive line and a runningback rated 91, lets say compare him to say AP of the Vikings, he is going to get a good deal of yards no matter how much you gameplan to stop the run. Unless your putting 9 in the box every single down of the game, the guy is going to get yards. Great players make plays regardless.

Last week in the NFL, 33 runningbacks gained more yards then Wilson. THIRTY THREE. So either half the teams in the IFL are outstanding run defenders, or this game is giving a negative rating to the run game. There's no other answer.
You should be able to both run AND pass the ball. Very few teams will be able to do both(unless your Tulsa haha), I understand that, but as far as wins and loss's go, the game is giving way to much weight to passing.

Jave I pretty much agree with you on all points. I am at a loss on how to gameplan effectively. I know there is a group of guys that completely get it and that is what drives me crazy. I have no chance against those teams. It doesnt matter what I put on the field. I am talking about another league I am in as well. For some reason in the last FOF I could push the buttons and it would translate on the field. I could make a run dominate team and eat the clock and be successful. Hell, I won the Imperial Bowl on Dewitt Flynn's legs with a backup QB. Dewitt Flynn was a mudder but he is nowhere near the same class as Wilson.

So, if anyone absolutely understands the buttons and crap can you give us a wee bit of info? I have tried the gameplans the various gameplans that have been posted for all and I just get worse.

I won't quit this league, but I am in the same boat as Jave. I agree with you buddy.

A significant problem in the IFL is that there's too much talent, probably because of using the TCY files. Yes, it is true that other leagues have this issue, but it is made worse when you introduce more talent than the engine expects. I just ran queries at IFL and WOOF: IFL has *28* QBs rated 60 or better current. WOOF? 13. Every team in the league is starting a good or very good QB, basically.

The other problem that pretty much all MP leagues suffer from is that that engine is balanced statistically for a realistic number of injuries. The problem is that I don't know of any MP league that plays with a realistic number of injuries. When you have fewer injuries, you have more good players playing more often. IHOF raised injuries to 200 last year, and immediately had its first season in nearly a decade with league-wide ypa under 7.0.

How difficult of a change was this?

I can't imagine herding the majority of the owners to thinking this would be a good idea.

                              an interesting result however.
