When dealing with 3 or more years in a deal (Your own renegotiation, or a free agent) was there any limit on how much you can jump salary from year to year (ignoring bonus for the argument)? I know the 'agents' wont bite if its too lopsided, but is there a league rule that prohibits something like:

    Base salary:

    2020 - $2,000,000
    2021 - $3,000,000
    2022 - $12,000,000

Speaking without looking at the official rules the "spirit" of the IFL is against backloading contracts and there *might* be a rule against doubling the salary in any 2 consequencial years.

Then again I might just be enjoying an alcoholic ride and shooting from the drunk hip, as I almost did in a trade proposal to you for Vergara, DE.

Think the contract example might be included in the anti-douchbag rule

I could not find the rule forbidding that contract though.

Hey, Im not about to submit a contract like that. I only ask because (without naming names) I saw a contract really similar and was wondering if it was kosher.

I know I stumbled upon a "exploit" early in the IFL and was called out for it. Forced to renegotiate players at market rate putting me in CAP Hades. Took a few seasons to work thru that! - lol

Can we get a clearer rule on this one? I thought we had specifics set up where each year of a contract could only be so much of a % of the year before to avoid backloading.
This is the closest thing in our current rules:

                    Quote from Jeff
                    G. Player contracts must be negotiated in a fair and realistic manner. This means no contracts may be signed that are extremely backloaded or use the minimum salary bug. With the recent updates these hopefully no longer are a problem, but this also covers any, still unknown exploitations. Penalties will include reworking of the players contracts, loss of players, or removal of that owner from the league. If you come across any new way of 'cheating the system' please inform the rest of the league, and pass the info onto Solecismic Software.

So it's really just there to prevent anything blatently explicit from going down. We've never had any hard rules on contracts, though we did have a tiny bit of discussion about such a thing this last offseason.
