That is correct.. to be honest I was surprised to read that when I re-posted the excerpt of the rules, because I always thought it was for all contracts. But the rules do say that it's ok if the contract spans over more than 2 years.Originally posted by morellomre View Postisnt that rule only applicable to 1 and 2 year contracts?

thought the same thing initially until a year or two ago i was in a bidding war with someone who popped a 3rd year on a FA so he could overpay on the bonus to get him..and it worked.Originally posted by Coder View PostThat is correct.. to be honest I was surprised to read that when I re-posted the excerpt of the rules, because I always thought it was for all contracts. I don't have a problem if an owner is willing to overpay(and massively as in the case this year) as long as they are forced to pay what they offered. Not cheat, and sign him to a 40 million dollar deal during FA, then a year later use the poor game AI and resign him for half that the following season. That's cheating. If your gonna pay 4X what a player is worth during free agency, then you have to stick to it.Originally posted by morellomre View Postthought the same thing initially until a year or two ago i was in a bidding war with someone who popped a 3rd year on a FA so he could overpay on the bonus to get him..and it worked.

We have rules for that here...you can't renegotiate until the last year of the contract.Originally posted by Jave View PostI don't have a problem if an owner is willing to overpay(and massively as in the case this year) as long as they are forced to pay what they offered. You sure? I just did my normal resigning on FA1, which includes going down everyone on my roster that I'd like to have longer.* With the amount of resignings on the transactions page I'd say others did as well.Originally posted by VitoStallion View PostWe have rules for that here...you can't renegotiate until the last year of the contract.
I'm pretty sure that rule failed to pass when voted on for a reason that started a big thing last time so I won't bring it up again. I don't see anything about it in the league constitution.
*Not to be confused with Beans who goes down ON everyone on his roster. :dancing:

still has $10mil in signing bonus agaisnt the cap. any re-negotiation will add even more bonus money. thus the rule on contracts and signing bonus.Originally posted by Jave View PostUmm, yea, I see some cheating coming on. TEN MILLION DOLLARS a season for Cash? Yea, someones using the CPU to renegotiate next season.
nothing illegal is being done here. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, and we went over this last offseason, but it's far too easy to resign your good players and have cap room available afterwards to sign guys like Cash to some big contracts.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR
