IFL Champs is cool. Anything other than the number of times each feat is accomplished (such as dates like '06 and '08) poses issues if a team runs a streak though. A simple total count can be updated from 1 to 2 to 3 and so forth without increasing the size needs.Originally posted by Jave View PostWhat about IFL Champs 06' 08'? Rings just sounds......empty. But I totally understand the size limitations.

That, like everything, is just the first sample thrown out there for approval or denial.
I'm going to drink now so no more art from me tonight.

Don't worry about stepping on my toes. Those images look great! I just wanted somebody to do something with logos and helmets because we were a bit outdated. And my trial software is over and don't have the money to shell out for the full version just yet.
How bout instead of OGM put the year the GM entered the league. That way...everyone would know 2004 is an OGM, and wouldn't leave out those who joined later. (and...for all intensive purposes I would look like a new owner since I've only been with Reno this year.)MIAMI VICE - 2074

WOW ... loving the artwork ... definately adds a spark to the league (which has become a little ho-hum recently) ... kudos, Jester.Originally posted by JesterBlaze View PostNorfolk sample with some other fonts for the accolades area and an example of the sizing trouble of recognizing individual seasons:

I hope you can get the full version soon. That'd be cool. I guess I'll go ahead with 2 sizes on these then for both the ingame art and forum avatars for now.Originally posted by Argot View PostDon't worry about stepping on my toes. Those images look great! As for the years entering the league: I'll do whatever the league wants as a graphic artist. My personal opinion as a league GM is that the OGMs are a continuously shrinking group* and thus deserving of the extra label.
* I'm thinking of taking next season off as a GM - but staying on board as a graphics dude and media mouth - and thus the group would be reduced by another 1.
Thanks r00k.Originally posted by r00k View PostWOW ... loving the artwork ... definately adds a spark to the league (which has become a little ho-hum recently) ... kudos, Jester.

Uhhh what? You can't just toss that out there like "no big deal". Just one season or you seriously quitting?Originally posted by JesterBlaze View Post* I'm thinking of taking next season off as a GM - but staying on board as a graphics dude and media mouth - and thus the group would be reduced by another 1.

Sitting out a season is one possible outcome right now. Full on quitting is not nearly as likely. Like r00k mentioned I've been feeling that the IFL is "ho-hum" lately. I enjoy the victories but a "well oiled machine", as the Phantoms have been called, goes from a mechanic's dream to his nightmare after a while when he's left twiddling his thumbs all day long. I've wanted to do more team building as opposed to continued maintenance the past few seasons. I get jealous of the new guys and their team roster shake-ups, re-naming, etc. and join tarcone in the "Break up the Phantoms" march.Originally posted by Jave View PostUhhh what? Still a lot to think about - including obviously what I'd be walking away from in the current Phantoms - before the time comes.

If you want to rebuild a team, then why would you put the league in jeopardy by stepping down? The list of potential GMs shrinks every year and the quality of new ones could be an issue.
Wouldnt a better idea be to "Break up the Phantoms"? Sell off pieces and then start from scratch. then you get to keep the Phantoms, plus rebuild AND the league doesnt suffer through more turnover.

Interesting that you say this because I tried to start talks with Jeff in recent seasons about him taking over the Phantoms so that we'd have him back in the league and I'd get to rebuild and he told me that "The Phantoms = Jester as Oakland = Jave" and that it was a bad idea when he took over Oakland.Originally posted by Jave View PostUhhh what? Perhaps you could stick an 0-16 label on mine??

I've thought of certain fictitious league punishments like losing all my draft picks (I could pick punters and not sign them) for tampering/drug/video taping charges but couldn't come up with much though I'm open to ideas. I also would have to run it by the commishes.Originally posted by tarcone View PostIf you want to rebuild a team, then why would you put the league in jeopardy by stepping down? For now I'm focused on avoiding that defending Champ semi-curse that's hit the IFL the last half-decade or so and make it to the post-season...

I rebuilt when I choose to trade Hamilton, and later Martinez. It's taken much longer then I originally anticipated, however one more draft and some very creative cap management and I should be competitive for the next decade. Could you be happy losing, and losing ALOT? That's what rebuilding is. It sucks for a long, long time.
