After a one-year hiatus, GM and owner Ken Argot, formerly of the Dakota Spirit, took over the ownership of the Reno Wolfpack today.
Shaking hands with Veteran Quarterback, Dennis Collela, Argot quickly assessed the team. "We've got a great Quarterback in Dennis and at least a 3 year window to put some other pieces together to be competitive. We've got a star caliber Running back in Darnell Castillo, while LaGrande and Barnett serve as a nice change of pace for him. We've got one or two pieces though at the rest of the positions. We need a serious upgrade and we only have one pick in the first three rounds. Let's not kid ourselves here folks. For many weeks last year, we were considered the bottom feeder for the IFL. We're not going to the playoffs next year, but we won't be last in our division. SLC, Oakland, and Vancouver have been put on notice. In 2011, this team was one win away from the Imperial Bowl after beating Dakota by 1 point, but to date this team has had only 3 winning seasons in its history. So today is a new day. We are going to re-write the history books here in Nevada."
When questioned about the Dakota Spirit's history of only 2 winning seasons, and only 1 under Argot, he responded, "THAT's ancient history...we're MOVING ON!"
One interviewer asked if it was true that Argot had been under psychiatric care over the past year with such an abrupt ending in Dakota. "YOU THINK I'M CRAZY??! IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK??!"
Argot and his staff took no further questions.
