I am all for slightly shorter time with moving to penalties for missed picks or perhaps missed picks combined. I have never wanted to do a slotted time draft, that just sounds painful to me.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Another vote AGAINST a hard-slotted draft. That would drag this thing out. BIGTIME.

      I think a 3-3-2-1-1/2-1/2-1/2 would be fine.

By the 4th round, a lot of people have their MAIN picks made, and the longer times are just painful when they let their full 4th round time come and go and they STILL don't make a pick. There is no excuse not to have your 'pick list' loaded up by the time the 3rd round ends.

You know what, a break IN GENERAL would be a GREAT idea.

        Figure it this way...

Lets say we speed up the times ANYWAY (Which we should) And we say (for sake of argument) : OK, rounds 1-3 will take places this Friday to Sunday. There will be a break Monday and then We start the faster rounds 4-7.

THIS way, there is NO FRIGGIN EXCUSE in the world not to have your pick list loaded up. a big excuse I keep hearing is that people worry that if you have (for example) a highlyloaded pick list in round 3 and you happen to miss a quick 'run', you may happen to get the same position or need twice in 2 rounds. A definitive break in the action alleviates this fear and encourages people to load the lists.

Personally, Im good if we do this OR we have one continuous draft... but I just thought I'd lay this out there for discussion

A same position can be eliminated in the Options screen. There is a box that zeroes out the same position just selected.

I understand, Im just saying that people seem to want time to process the previous pick and thus dont load up their pick lists. I dont suffer from this.. just trying to alleviate one of the bottlenecks, for whatever reason people do this :-)

Why not put rounds 6 and 7 on a 24 hour clock. half an hour time limit so u have to have a list. Seems odd to be stalling when the picks so rarely work out. that would take some time off the back end.

Personally, I don't want hard time slot

We absolutely need to add some kind of penalty if somebody miss a pick.

Here's what I'd be in favor for. I like the first round to have a little extra time for draft day trades.

                  1st round -4 hours
                  2nd round- 3 hours
                  3rd round- 2hours
                  4th round- 2 hours
                  5th round- 1 hour
                  6th round- 1 hour
                  7th round- 1 hou

I'm not in favor of any penalties like bumping a team down if they miss their pick. Commish just picking the best available in game needs player is good.

I am in favor of penalties if you miss your pick and do not contact anybody that you are around. Your next pick should be made by commish as soon as you are on the clock. Unless, like i said you have contacted the commish before then.

Speaking as a player and not as the commish, i dont like the late rounds being slashed so much. I know alot of people couldnt care less about the 5,6,7 rounds but I personaly love them and feel like theres quality players to be had. I realize i'm sort of in the minority about that but i feel 1 hour is low enough and personaly wouldnt wanna see the 6th and 7th rounds go to half an hour. I think the backend of the draft isn't really the problem as we have obviosuly sped thru the last 3 or 4 rounds here since Friday after the torturous first 4 days.

The other thing is, and I think this is important, while we dont want to make people wait forever to pick and drag things out, we generaly have 5-7 days to complete a draft and it doesnt make alot of sense to ultra rush things just for the sake of it when we'd still end up sitting here the same amount of time waiting for the other stages to get done.

I am not in favor of skipping picks at all. It's just too much of a hassle for mods. If you miss a pick, you should get scout picked and have time reduced.

Again, these are my opinions as a player.
                      I luv British womenz.

First off I like the input as a player here.

I agree the backend isn't the problem and thus retract my call for quicker time limits for rounds 5+. I could (almost) not care less at that point.

My problem is in "getting a feel for my slots" early on. I actually took 2 days off work this season as I knew with my 12 hour shifts I'd be screwed for the draft. My couple hundred dollar loss left me: Sitting around waiting for the 1st round for 2 days though I didn't have a pick until the 2nd!

Bah. I've stated my point over and over in the past: If you don't care enough to be around during your pick then I don't care about you losing it since I adjust my schedule to be online or I live with the results.

Just to throw this out there and if been discussed in the past, please let me know.....

Would more GM's be available on the weekends than the during the week? Maybe start the draft on a friday night or saturday morning instead of a monday morning?

I've thought about that and it's a hard thing to judge. I think ore people would be available, but im not sure they'd be around, if that makes sense.

I agree with Suicane about the later rounds. Anyway, it's not where the draft is slow. The first 3 rounds are generally the problem.

I hate to say it, but with as slow as the first few rounds went, I was surprised how fast the last few flew. I had 3 picks auto picked (not complaining as they look to be decent for that late in the draft) because it went faster then I expected. I mean we flew thru the 7th in under 5 hours and that is with my 2 hours for the 2 picks I had...

This is why I prefer time slots. So when we are moving fast like we did today after a very slow and dragged out beginning, everyone understands where they are due to pick and are not caught of guard by the fact that all the sudden the draft if flying...

                                IMO
