  • If You Could Trade.....

For one player in the IFL. Anybody. It would cost you nothing. You just traded him for a bag of kicking tees. But it can be anyone.

    Who do you choose? Why?

Nicky Doyle Oakland CB. So many good qbs in this league, having an ace young cb would be very helpful.

give me Julian Cartagena in his prime. I just loved that guy, and he was one guy that I wanted on my team. Damn those Columbia Fire teams were awesome.

i would say CB Nicky Doyle.

i'm also very happy to have the best WR in the league, too bad you need a good QB to take advantage of that. if Mullin wasn't on my team i'd still be lusting over trying to aquire him somehow.

Did you recently acquire a new WR? (PS - Mullin is not in the top 5 for any qualifying WR discussion)

            **********************

The only two logical answers to this (without a huge gamble) are: Kim Cortez ILB or Gene Hamilton QB.

As much as I love defense - and I LOVE defense and Cortez is the type to spit, jerk off, then use the remains to go another round - QB holds to much weight and I'd take Hamilton despite the years.

As much as I love Jave's pick of the 2 CBs this year - which is to say a LOT - is how much I question the release of Hamilton from Oakland, despite the apparent skill of Horace Donovan - stress the "apparent" (Chad Harding anyone?).

            **********************
For the record those that are on Caro's dick (not a hard to make mistake) might wanna take a look at that 2 minute drill.

Also, anyone think that the fact Nicky Doyle doesn't have a single rating below his overall rating think that might signify future dropoff? I'm not sure how the ratings work but compare Oaklands 2 rooks and something doesn't add up.

And anyone thinking CB needs to look at Jose Mangum (Cap Rooney), who ('s been doing it for years!!!! ) rocks the important CB attributes.

I assume the question was pertaining to TODAY'S players because if we are talking all time there is no question in my mind..."finger" Lozier!! That guy reminds me alot of Joe Montana. He isn't pretty on paper but has the mind of a champion and just plain gets it done!!

Yea, I have had a few question my trade of Hamilton but really it came down to this: Will I win a championship with him? Honestly, NO. Because my team was old and broke down. There was just to many pieces to put together before we could have made a serious run at the playoffs and the way I looked at it, I could still get some value for him now, rather then keep him around and honestly have zero shot at any real winning seasons because my team required nearly a total rebuild. His age was a huge factor me me, especially in 07 because players retire so much quicker then they did in 04.

And will Doyle crash and burn? Sure, it's possible. But it's possible with any player really. He was a no brainer and while I had 2 very decent cornerbacks in the past, I have NEVER had any true shutdown corners on this team, but today I have 2!!! And without the Hamilton trade, that never would have been possible. I am rock solid confident that I made the right decision trading both Martinez and Hamilton. They are great players but were horribly expensive and really wasn't enough to get me back in the championship hunt!!

I'm not at the computer with my game on it but there are a few players I would love to have. Will take a look and actually answer the question later!!

on paper he's the best WR in the league. if you're talking about stats - stats are a product of the offense that you run. Heroes are a run-first team.

Just to clarify as I know my drunk ranting isn't always clear: I'm not predicting a crash from Doyle just curious if anyone thinks the big difference in potential bars being so much bigger than the potential overall difference signifies anything.

If I remember correctly on paper he won't go over the middle and isn't motivated to get the yards needed on 3rd down. I know his weaknesses are in important areas. He's great due to the other attributes, but not top 5 great.

FWIW I believe on paper Arnold Greene is the best in the league from my scouts perspective, which is why I decided not to attempt to trade him before the deadline, but on the field he's an asshole so far.

I actually disagree with you, and it's not because he is on my team. IF he was not performing at the level of his rating then I would tend to agree with you, however, not only are his rating off the charts, he is living up to them on the field. I don't see a crash in rating unless he gets injured.

If this is current players only, which is how I take it, then I would say there are 3 different guys for me. The top two would be hard to choose from, those both being RBs. With Dixon almost done I would love to have one of these guys.

                        Montreal's Osborne
                        Tulsa's Singleton

The third would be another Tulsa player as it is, OT Brock Heath.

The RB's are first though, and it would be hard to pick. They both have their own positives.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

you should fire your scout then. don't you need someone to be your waterboy?

Thanks for the advice but I think I'll keep the scout and my ability to understand which ratings are important to winning, as I'm 1-dimensional like that.

And we purposely gave our long time waterboy, Craig Draycen, an indefinite paid vacation after week 4's loss. We feel the players can get their own water until they appear to be back in football shape.
