Wow, intense game. Norfolk really didn't want to be beat in the big game. Grats to both teams

Maybe Mooberry was the man that made the Norfolk championships happen and not Lozier? The fans in Norfolk are taking this hard from what I hear.

Mooberry won Coach of the Year in the game, 3rd straight year for the Lawrence HC to win it.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Mooberry won Coach of the Year in the game, 3rd straight year for the Lawrence HC to win it.
In response to the suggestion of whether he regretted parting with his old coach, r00k, GM of the Vipers, had this to say,

"Coach Mooberry is a great coach and he was fully responsible to bring the winning tradition to Norfolk. As everyone knows, Coach Mooberry left the Viper organization before this last season began. Before that happened, Howie and I had very long discussions on several occasions. Most of the discussion centered on team discipline. So let me put this issue to rest ... for Howie's sake, as well as the Viper fans."

"Despite our successes, the Vipers were always near the top of the list for being the most penalized. I was personally convinced that the Viper edge was slipping and all because of a lack of attention to that dimension in the game. We had just made four straight trips to the AC Conference Championship Game and then we get bounced handily in 2010. Perhaps, my expectations were too lofty and the heat of the moment hadn't cooled off. In any event, I pointed my finger at the coaching staff. Howie had other thoughts. So, agreeing to disagree, we both felt it was in the best interest of the team and for Howie personally to quietly part company."

"With our arrangement made, the Viper organization dedicated itself to find the best coach that money could buy. We were successful to hire Coach Nichols especially when the St. Louis organization refused to return his calls to renew his contract in Stage 1 of last year."

"So where do we stand today. We still wish Coach Mooberry our best wishes and sincerely congratulate him on the win in the Imperial Bowl and his selection as Coach of the Year. He deserves the accolades. On the other hand, I have not regretted our mutual decision. Life has a way to move on if you let it. I don't find the time or have the inclination to cry over spilt beer."

"For the record, I will point out that Lawrence was one of the most penalized teams this year and the Vipers had only one penalty more than the mean. I like that positive trend for the Vipers and am glad to have Coach Nichols here for the long term. In the championship game, the Phantoms were penalized 11 times for 94 yards. We were penalized 5 times for 30 yards. In fact, at one point, Phantom penalties helped save us in the 4th quarter, I think, and prevented a game winning field goal by Lawrence."

"But with that being said, that and a dime may possibly get you a refill for your cup of coffee in the final analysis. We again extend our congratulations to the entire Phantom organization for their outstanding season and for proving themselves as the best on the field of play. I also want to congratuate Coach Nichols and his staff for the great effort and results that they have accomplished in their first year here at Norfolk."
