  • HA - every time you bring up your theories that Jeff is afraid of you, at least from my perspecitve, you show that you've got no real point and are grasping again at what you hope to be true. Same with the "Jeff had Caro handed to him" deal. Also, you were a new GM when SLC was going through trouble. There was no need for a thread because it was known FOR TWO SEASONS PRIOR what was going to happen.

Now on to this Colella business that I've missed most of in my slacking away from IFL: Wheres' the bonus money going? Does HA get stuck with $32M in dead cap space AND have to pay on top of this to outbid other GMs? I would say (with limited contract specifics) it's not fair at this point for another GM to offer a contract that's any less than HA's original contract.

And I thought FOF was now "secure" in that if a contract was accepted then it didn't violate any IFL rules? Wasn't this changed in FOF 2004 to end the backloading issue?

    • Got mixed up on my browser tabs and thought this was a one pager, not 4. I see now that a commish can void a contract - something I was unaware of.

He's not grasping at straws. As I've said publicly to you and every GM I've talked with says behind the scenes: You are an annoying trade "partner". EVERY player IS available for the right offer regardless of what the GM says!!! That's what makes it the "right offer". Offer value instead of smoke and GMs will respond favorably. I don't think any/many GMs mind spending time with another GM on a potential trade except when you know from the opening statement and reputation how it's going to go: "I've noticed you've got some stud players on your team. Are they available? I'll pay BIG. I'll PULL THE TRIGGER. I can make the decisions other teams can't!!... So how about a 4th rounder for your stud? If I have to I'll eventhrough in an older, less-talented, more expensive replacement that you wouldn't even sign for free off of FA. Let's get this done!"

the problem is FOF doesn't let you edit anything. if there was a way to edit stuff, the commish could reset any contract that he deems to be "unfair" or unreasonable. the GM gets screwed cuz the player accept the contract and there's nothing to do to erase it and basically start over from scratch.
THE PROBLEM IS YOU OFFERED A BACKLOADED CONTRACT!!!! Who has a problem with your bonus????

HA, you are NOT slick. You are NOT savvy. I not only see the moves you makes but predict them and have to assume at least 75% of the league does as well. It's more of a mystery whether I will toke another blunt after the last one than what you're up to. Stop trying to put anything past anyone and you might get better results.

It's comical to me how I usually don't even have to respond to you because someone already has - in the exactmanner and with damn near the same text as I would've - and this happens on a regular basis and from many other GMs so I'm not just agreeing with one or two.

BTW - You must be carrying a lot of weight from this thread so while disagreeing with you I do want to restate that I like you for the league.

      • you do realize we've all moved on, right? by the time you started reading about the Globetrotters you should've known you missed the bus and nothing you said would have been groundbreaking or earthshattering. in fact, it may be best to just delete your posts in this thread since you offer nothing new and basically ruin the great direction the thread was going in. to be honest, if you're going to delete the posts, you should probably also consider slashing your wrists while you're at it.

        ok bye.

          • actually, the issue isn't over until Colella is signs back with you or any other team. It will be interesting if you undercut everyone else with a 2-year deal. Hopefully, those that will be bidding on him will be smart enough to do the same thing and give a hell of a big bonus with little salary over two years.

Actually, despite being a whopping 2 days late to the party, with the Vito thing being a non-issue I'd say this is still the biggest "story" in the IFL in this otherwise can't-look-away FA period 10 or whatever it is.

You do realize that it's not that I feel I'm being groundbreaking but hope that being yet another GM to tell you the same thing that at some point it will sink in. Delicacy appears to leave far too much room for your childish creativity. Somehow all of your fuckups and lack of production revolve around great GM moves from a great GM. Wouldn't it be more reasonable that all the fuckups and lack of production revolve around a fuckup GM that's lacking production?

The bonus money disappears. No dead cap money.

I guess I look at it like this. The contract he offered was illegal and no more consideration should be given to it.

Unforunately, the game does not bend very well. We can't undo the contract and we can't edit salaries like we could in OOTP. HA had Colella signed for one year (something like 5.5) with no bonus. He could've easily locked him up for 2-3 more years with as much bonus as he decided to throw around. Now, since he decided to play roulette (ie let him go to FA), he'll have to outbid at least 5-6 other GM's.

                Absolutely not.

I think bonus money was given a good deal more value in one of the last patches. HA was right in that a dialog box will tell you your deal is backloaded, but there's no way we can rely on it. I posted a screenshot of Long somewhere. This deal will bring up the dialog:

                30k bonus
                720k
                1190k
                23800k

                This one won't:

                30k bonus
                720k
                1200k
                23800k

                    • California has 37 players on their roster and just under $13M in cap space.

And this was supposed to be a "window year" in their plan.

Oh Hunter Crawford. You took a pay cut and a victories cut.

Simple math: California cannot be competitive with Colella. California cannot be competitive without Colella.
