NC WILDCARD: Vermont at Vancouver

I voted Vermont. A Vancouver win doesn't surprise me though, they beat me with out too much trouble. I have no problem saying JB Lincoln was the best RB in the league this year. He was leading the league in rushing early on and his carries were scaled back a little I think, otherwise he would have taken the rushing crown I think. Brian Dixon takes what he can get though.

Not to mention JB did tote the rock 83 times via the pass which for us was just as good as a run.

J.B. Lincoln gets shut down and Xavier Armstrong tries to carry the team but can't.

Virgil comes to Little Rock now. Can't say I am too happy about that, since the Toads are 2-4 all time against the Mountaineers and Virgil.

Ouch, before I hit the submit button on this I checked injuries. Vermont loses DE Hernandez. Poor Shawn doesn't get to come back to his original home for the playoff game. Kind of sorry to see that Coder.

Ugh, looks like Vermont lost Shawn Hernandez early in the game, damn. Mountaineers in a 10-0 hole early in the 2nd. Vancouver could really put the clamp down now. Huge series as Vermont gets a late turnover and converts it for 7 to cut the halftime score to 17-7, really big turn of events.
Mountaineers keeping their family fed with a nice 3rd quarter drive to cut it to 17-14 and suddenly we got a ballgame again. Lincoln has been stifled so far today for the Whales. Vancouver gets good field position but misses a FG and then drives deep only to turn it over. Vermonts defense is stepping up when it counts.
Whales with a HUGE stop on 3rd and 1 to slow Vermonts momentum. Man, Vermont stops them on 3rd and long but a face mask penalty gives the Whales a 1st down. 4:01 left, i gotta tinkle!
2:16 left, Vermont with the ball on their own 7 down 17-14.
OHHH, 4th and 15 from their 2 and Virgil hits a 17 yarder. Still alot of time left.
a couple of 15 yarders and then a huge penalty on Vancouver. Man oh man. FIELD GOAL! OVERTIME! FEEL MY NIPPLES!
Vermont stops a Whales drive but get pinned deep. 3rd and 9 and Fann gets a 10 yard run, Vancouver could have had the game won with a stop there, what a play.
And with that the Mountaineers begin an epic drive that ends with a 17 yard TD pass to finish off a huge come from behind win on the road. So many chances for Vancouver to seal this one but the Mountaineers just never stopped chugging along. Vancouver will hopefully use this experience and be better for it while the Mountaineers live to fight another day.

Man, as Cringer said, sucks for Coder and Hernandez. I think the LR/Vermont game could be closer than records might indicate though, but it'll be real tough for the Mountain men now.

Vancouver gave that game away at the end of the first half by passing instead of running out the clock with a 17 pt lead in their own territory.

I'm exhausted.. what a game.. Felt like everything was against me in the beginning, starting with Hernandez.. shiiiiiiiite... then every time I get a key first down, it gets called back by a penalty.. 26 yard pass to Tilley, back.. 9 yard run, back.. time and time again.. then.. slowly, interception, conversion, well.. Suicane, your recap really sums it up.. holy shit what a game..

Cringer.. with the roster I have now, don't even think about using our lifetime record as an excuse ... Right now I'm just happy to be in the playoffs.. but with Shawn out 8 weeks with what very well might be his swan song injury, we don't have the stars to shut down Given.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats, and thanks to Richard for one hell of a game.. sometimes it felt as if you planned the whole thing.. here I was worried about your running game, then you come out and injure one of the league's top pass-rushers then you start airing it out.. I was like.. wtf!!!!! You owned the game for two quarters, no doubt about that.

Jeff here beat me to it. Given has not done well, before or after the injury. Humphries seemed more productive, and he was running a slightly different offense. My offense hasn't been as smooth since changing back to Given, even trying more of the Humphries style O.
