  • Owner Awards Voting/Ballot

Hi, welcome to your favorite part of the season - Owner Awards circa 2010!

One change this year. I'm dropping the Breakout Player of the Year Award due to the ambiguity involved in determining such a player and the headache that ensues with that award's vote. Voting is not mandatory, but I will keep track of who's participating in case I want to use the statistics for future use.

    The ground rules:
-Are due by Monday, November 12th
-Your votes should be sent to me in a private message
-No voting for your own players
-Fill out the entire ballot or it's deemed incomplete and won't be accepted
-Remember to vote for an Executive of the Year. This award should only take general managing into account.

-A ballot that I've come up with on my own time is included in this post. You do NOT have to choose from those players - you can pick whomever you want. You are also welcomed to pimp your own players in this thread, though I will NOT be editing my ballot to include any new players.

Here is my ballot. Players are not listed in any particular order:

This is going to be tough voting this year. Theres a ton of really deserving players.
On a side note, does it seem like with the move to 07' the sack total is really high league wide??

      e. Hank Tran, OLB, Wichita Outlaws -- 92tkl, 26ast, 11.0sck, 1blk, 10hur, 7qbk, 4ff - 2int (13yds), 4pde

this is the man...he plays the run and the pass and is a key part of one of the best defenses in the league...LB tackles are usually higher but offset with lower pass rush numbers and lower pass defense...Tran does it all...a player may hit higher numbers in one category or another but not all of them...Tran is that guy...on top of all that he forces turnovers...

      consider Mr. Tran officially pimped...

        g. Johnnie Basile, DE, Wichita Outlaws -- 56tkl, 26ast, 9.5sck, 3blk, 35hur, 18qbk, 2ff

if you cant stand LB types then i give you a purist DE...you say 9.5 sacks doesnt compare to a guy with 12 to 15 sacks...i give you 35 hurries and 18 qbk....Johnnie gets to the QB..those hurries generate incompletions and INTs...dont minimize them...I say Tran is better but Johnnie is a damn fine candidate...a dont forget...Wichita has a top defense...these guys had to share with other very good defenders...

        consider Mr. Basile pimped...

thank you for your acknowledgment, and for that i shall vote for Clay Bradbury for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

a lot of things didn't go as planned this season, which will happen - if things went as we all planned there'd be 32 champions a year. and we just can't have that. but in terms of the talent i was able to infuse in the offseason i turned the Heroes into a team that everyone looks for in the transactions reports, you know, one of those "lets' see what the Heroes have done now" type of headline generating clubs. i turned one of the worst teams in the league historically into a team on the forefront of the league. sure, we're not in the same class as the Phantoms or Vipers, sure we haven't been to the playoffs yet, but there's hope in the team, not only is it headed in the right direction it's ON the road already in the right direction. we won 6 out of 9 games at one point to salvage what was otherwise a disappointing season - i put a team together that started off slow but was able to beat the red hot Cardinals, beat the Lynx once and held the other team to zero points multiple times. after going 1-5 i decided letting the AI set my gameplan wasn't working so i took a more active role in the gameplan, i only wonder what could have been had i did that from the start. i've developed the team's reputation as a giant killer, the team that isn't afraid of undefeated or unstoppable teams. this is a new Heroes. a new era. we're not easy wins anymore, the team actually has expectations from other owners and media. i've taken the team from "we expect them to lose" to "i'll be surprised if the Heroes don't have a solid season this year". i'm not pleased with the results this year, but i'm happy with the product.

so thank you for your props.

if by statistically you mean "of all the stats that matter NOT INCLUDING WIN/LOSSES" Newark was a far better team than the Zeroes then i agree. passing-wise we dominate you, and defensively how many times have the Puppies shut out a team? seriously, do you understand what it means to shut out a team? multiple times? that means for 4 quarters at no point in time was the other team even able to kick a ball through the uprights for even 3 points. to be able to stop a team from travelling 100 yards to cross the goalline for an entire game? so yeah, maybe you'll dig up some stats where your bad team is better than the Heroes, but let's be serious.

unless you're doing that sarcasm thing.

Kudos to Jeff for taking the time & effort to create a great ballot. That is alot of work.

Vipers have two special teamers on the ballot.

Harbour, who set a IFl record for points in a season,

and Percy Brenner, PR and KR specialist.

Don't want to split the vote, so if you lean to either of these, we in Viper land, would like to see your vote go to Percy Brenner (not taking anything away from the record setter). Get real ... a 17 yard ave returning punts ... this has provided us great field position all year long and for a league high of 50 times! Those of you who played the Vipes know that this was a frustration for them.

See that Lozier is up in a couple of categories ... you guys know what i think about him.
