Neato.. I went out there and kicked some Free Agent ass!

    Welcome to Vermont Shawn Hernandez!!!!

I don't care if he's injury prone, we've been lacking a quality defensive end since Stephen Berard's heyday!

Also signed Richard Rath to give Virgil a little more support on the flank.

Well it's been a quiet summer in Anchorage. Sad to see Lundquist go. I wasn't willing to give him the contract California gave him. If he does last three yrs then ill be kicking myself for not going after him harder. (haha thats what she said)

Anyway we did steal Wideman away from St.Louie as a secondary option so hopefully he'll work out. 8)

Also sad to see Rockett go. We went another route because we wanted something more flashy...

Would guys rather see me make separate topics for each stage or no? Someone, we'll call him Snowcane, has formally filed a complain with me.

Worth noting about FOF2K7 draft classes...

                        1. Overall talent is less. Notice the RBs in my SP league, for example:

In general, a player rated in the 45/45-50/50 range will be starter-quality for most teams in the league (once the FOF2K4 players all retire).

                        2. There are MANY players who have *VERY* different ratings from what their bars might indicate. Examples:

Note the QB going from 11/40 to 58/58 (and remember that a 58/58 starting QB is probably a top 10 QB once all of the FOF2K4 players retire). Also note that *none* of these were veteran breakouts or summer league players; they're guys who just had better ratings than it first appeared. Finally, note that two guys more than *doubled* their original scouted ratings. Both had useless scrub ratings, but become pretty solid starters.

                        3. Because of #2, tracking ratings changes is more important than ever now.

                        4. The ratings that you see when the players are first placed on your roster are well-nigh meaningless for many (most?) players. Think of FOF4-type masking, with a good bit more sophistication.

                        5. No ratings changes happen for rookies until after the first training camp.

                        6. Very few (if any) of those 10/50ish-20/60ish rookies that you see floating around in the pool at the begining of FA1 are worth anything. The huge majority of them hvae no more than 25ish potential.

uhhhhh...WOW. very savvy on jim's part to include that. that means you have to sign your rookie first, then wait to see if he initially busts or not. the guy drafted #3 overall last draft - DT JJ Johnson - was a bust out of the draft (pre-FA stage 2). he was cut by his team who didn't want to sign him, picked up by another team (where he went on to become one of the best defensive rookies in the league). point is now you're really gonna roll the dice. i like that. that to me reinforces my decision to downplay the draft and build the team via trades/FA pool. i'm not willing to take on even more risk. i like that added wrinkle though.

Not my favorite move of the off-season.

I also see Virgil just got the long term treatment.

Someone is apparently not content with 3rd place.

Do you know if this is the same with TCY draft classes imported into 2k7?

i got no prob cutting Lundquist in Year 3 if he degrades too much. i don't think he will - he's rated 85 by my scout and guys just don't fall apart in FOF after a certain age like they do in OOTP. for a team rated in the bottom 5 for run defense i needed to make an investment to my front 4. worse comes to worse i cut him in Year 3 and only get a $3million hit to my salary cap.

this is without a doubt the greatest team i've ever assembled in any MP or solo league. i haven't ever had this much talent. sure, my FOF2 Cleveland Browns teams with Dean Houston were dominant, but those were teams built around one man. the 2010 California Heroes are a complete team, an assembly of dominant players. we put the ass in assembly of dominant players.

we're still not done. i was actually going for that TE Huggins who wasn't looking for a contract to break the bank. shoulda just manned up and signed him. still, i don't want my TE taking catches away from my dominant WRs, which is why i'm content to just roll with my current TE Eddington.

say what you want about cohesion (and our lack thereof), but at some point if it was all about cohesion then you could save a lot of money just signing mediocre/average players and keeping them together forever. at the end of the day talent trumps cohesion.

The 2010 California Heroes are talented.
