What's with all of the offensive players listed as MVP candidates? Why not any love for the defense? I'll give you one to ponder: Pittsburgh MLB [ifl]Isaiah Graybill[/ifl]. Why Graybill? First of all, he had the best overall season of any linebacker. Check it out:

    117 tackles (5th overall, 3rd among MLB's)
    1 sack, 1 block, 6 hurries (1st among MLB's)
17 defensed passes (12th overall, 1st among all LB's, maybe the second best total ever for a LB)
    2 interceptions, 2 FF, 1 TD

And secondly, his boom in the offseason is the only difference on a Pittsburgh team that last year had 320 pts scored on them, and this season led the league with only 250 pts scored on them, the best total in two seasons. Pittsburgh tied for the 3rd best record ever in the IFL because of the defense, and the defense was led by Isaiah Graybill. What more do you need to be an MPV???

    Graybill. MVP. DPOY. Check it.

Please consider for Breakout player of the year or something....
MLB [ifl]Jose Welch[/ifl] only played in 13 games while starting only 10 of them.

          HOWEVER........................

The man had a tackle % of 15.9 and ammassed 59 solo tackles. He had 2 sacks, 1 blocked pass, and 3 hurries.

          WHAT ABOUT HIS COVERAGE SKILLZ?

How is 4INTS and 5 passes defensed for a nice 20.5 pass def %

I guess we're even now in the [ifl]Reuben Caffrey [/ifl]trade.

I got to thinking about this today randomly. Part of breaking out is getting a chance and succeeding. If you weren't playing much before, it's because you were thought to be roster fodder, not a productive starter.

So I don't think you can hold that against a breakout candidate.

Not sure how much people appreciate INTs by OLBs but Randell McCreary, who I couldn't move this past off-season, had the following stats:

                      90 tackles
5 INTs for 115 yards (23 yards per INT return)
                      12 passes defensed
                      2 sacks

You would have to add David Day to the list then:
                          116 tackles
                          49 assists
                          3 Sacks
                          4 Hurries
                          3 INTs
                          13 Defensed
                          3 FF

If Hovis hadn't gotten injured, he would be the man in IWC, but Day filled in and led the defense.

Offensivly, Sammy was "the man" But while his numbers are gaudy in IWC record books, Caro makes him look like a footnote.

I'd also pimp Escalera, but even considering the DT to MLB stat averages, Day had the better year. Escalera might break out next year.

The DB has all 17 weeks of stats now, so RotY can be examined via the green page, the grey page should give you an idea about who might be available next year. Enjoy!

                            WAIT!!! HOLD UP!!

this is bullshit. how did WR Gaston Williams make breakout of the year candidate and not QB Colella. if you're point is Colella isn't a breakout because he had more pass attempts, then Williams is only a breakout because he had a huge increase in pass targets. you can't have it both ways. stop abusing your Commish title and be fair.

if Colella sucked and couldn't get it done do you think we would have passed as much? or even not have gone to our awesome backup QB Ike Jordan? he was getting it done and effective and put points on the board - that's why we had him pass more than he's done in the past. career highs in yards and td's, all the while not increasing his int's and he's not a breakout player candidate??

i was gonna vote this year but now i'm abstaining. this is a farce.

I think you might be missing the point. You can pimp any player you deem eligible. Other guys will feed their opinions on the aforementioned "pimped" playas.
At the end of the day, we are not voting from a list of prospects. You are voting for anyone in the league, not on your team. Feel free to pimp Colella and argue your points. I'm listening, as are others.

Similar situation a few years back where Alan Crespo was up for awards. There were some that argued that he carried the ball too much and that's why he reached over 2000yds. Yes he did carry a lot, but he had a nice YPC so I believe the carry argument is irrelevant.

Don't fret HA. All of the debating is in good nature.
I think it's important for everyone to vote if possible. It takes a few minutes, and makes the awards more valuable. I don't want to have a player win an award based on 7 peoples ballots. The more the merrier.
